So we're back. Oh how I wish I were still in Amherst. When we had originally left I didn't know what to think, would it be fun? How could I have ever questioned that? When I look back on it I wish I had taken in everything we'd done in stride, and cherished it for what it was, enjoyable or not.
So, the first thing we did when we got there was meet Nuge, and CIT Bob Wang. They were the ones picking us up. Bob had his dad's Lexus. Oh goodness it was beautiful. Then, we got to Hampshire college. The dorms were decent, room for lots of stuff, but the beds were HARD. I was the only one with a roommate, so my room was really big, and I soon learned that a lot of activity would occur there. The four of us went to eat lunch in the cafeteria. Mmmmm how I miss that food. Afterward, we played some card games and threw around a bit. Later that night just before curfew, we played a game of hot box in the dark. That's when I knew this camp was gonna ROCK.
The next day we woke up thanks to Cale, because he needed breakfast. Haha that boy loves to eat. Then we were told the disc golf course was open and so we all played that. I got a bloody nose second time around so I didn't get to play. Meh, I sucked at it anyway. We were just about to go eat lunch when I was told someone was there to see me. RACHEL!! So we went out to lunch and to visit NMH. We also stopped by her house, and arrived back a little before 4pm. Then I got my room key and such, got dressed and walked to the fields for the day. We played a few pick up games, and it was interesting. So damn hot too. It was really awkward though, because I was on Chris's team, which lasted the whole camp...
So the next day after some throwing drills and such they lined us up by height and numbered us off. Then we were on short term teams. We played a few games and then did more drills. Later that night we went to the conference room and permanent teams were announced. [At least I think that's right...]
Anyway one night Mouse was hungry. So I gave him my leftover food that I had from going out with Rachel. Unfortunately, he didn't like it. Therefore, making the most noise possible, he ran back down to my floor and threw all of the gross food in front of my door. So I invited him in and we had a party. Other guys followed him down and the numbers in my room rose from about 4 to 15 in about 5.34 seconds. Then curfew came and the party was over. Oh well.
Tuesday, I got lots of praise for throwing a good party, and had people asked what room number I was in so we could all hang. VERY cool. Anyway, the day went by with the finishing of scrimmages between teams and then in the afternoon was the first tournament game. Our team stomped the red team, 11-0. We were on a bagel roll, scoring a total of 37 points in a row before another team scored on us. Later that night I went back to my room and after making it clear I didn't want a party that night, was joined by a guy I learned to be Brian Cox. He was on my team, sure, but I still didn't know who he was. Anyway it was about 10pm and we just basically chilled in my room for an hour. It was one of the most in depth convo's I had had in awhile. We clicked. And then he had to go, and it was sad, but I knew I'd see him tomorrow haha.
Wednesday was the day of the full tournament. We won all of our games, and went to finals, which we won I think 15 - 8 or so. I can't believe I'm forgetting all of this. Weird stuff. Anyway after all of this, it was crazy insane madness to shower. Then Sydney and I went to practice our talent for about 30 minutes later that day, step dancing. Shino found me and we went to a corner to practice. [Finish post later, must go to pick up]
EDiT: For you, Amber.
So we were practicing for the talent show that was to happen in about 20 minutes. We had to figure out what beats went with what Shino knew, teach her some new stuff, and learn some new stuff ourselves. Chichi came over a few times to check what was going on, and ask if he could watch. SYDNEY HAD A FAN CLUB! He was ushered away though and told he would see soon enough -- which was definately correct as everyone began to head over towards the conference room. Suddenly, as we redid things one more time, Brian Cox appeard with Chichi and were standing there waiting for us! It was really weird... I was like uh, hi! But we walked to the conference room and we were looking for a place the 4 of us could sit, but then Sydney and Chichi sat down so Brian and I were lost to finding somewhere to sit. So we sat down together and watched the talent show. It was really awesome, he was part of a skit that was HILARIOUS, and then I did the stepdancing. Somewhere in between that we were talking about sleeping arrangements and he was like "I know you want to sleep in my bed, but it isn't happening." And he put his hand on my thigh and I said "awww" It was saddening, in an odd sort of way. After that I tried to convince Brian to give my friend directions to the field for the next day. He ended up leaving a message, but one that began, "Hi, my name is Brian, I like long walks on the beach..." This conversation with himself went on for about 5 minutes before he hung up. I told him we'd try again tomorrow.
Last day at camp. Awards, region games, and coach/campers game. Brian did get to talk to Rachel and gave her decent directions to the field.
The games were interesting to say the least, us west coasters won all 3 of our games. It was cooool. Then awards were given out and for the first time I realized that camp was ending. We rode back on the bus and began packing our things. I hadn't packed at all earlier that day, and in the rush to pack everything and leave, I left the strap to my checked bag in the dorms. Damn did that suck.[More later, time to watch Miracle]
I am determined to finish this entry. My god was it one long week. So I returned my dorm key and brought my stuff to the lobby. I met Brian's mom again, and we all put our stuff in her and Chichi's car. Then we drove to Brians house. HOLY SHIT WE WERE IN A RAINSTORM. It was amazing, it just came out of no where and then went away really fast. Weird weather like that I guess is normal there. :-/ Soooo we all arrived and put our stuff down and chilled. It was Brian, Cale, Chichi, Chris, Dan, Me, Robin, and Sydney. We all just kind of hung out there for a bit and we ordered pizza. Yuck. Then the skies became sunnier and we decided to go across the street and play some hot box. So we played... and played... and played s'more. When we all got hot and gross we decided to go back inside. From there we went to hang out at SULA. Robin had already left. So we piled into Chichi's 2004 Honda civic coupe to ride to SULA. Now this was an interesting endeavor. We had Cale, Chris and Dan in the back, with Sydney laying across them. Then you had Chichi driving and me and Brian in the front seat. [OH YEAH!] So we arrived at SULA and everyone but Cale picked up on a team. It was interesting to say the least, I mean they had a handler in zone defense who I could throw better than, and that's saying something. Brian would come over now and then and cheer for me, and there was this one deep throw straight down the line, that I almost had a d on, but now that I think about it, it's better I didn't, because it was likely I'd hit Brian straight in the head.
After SULA we all went to the Hangar. [Correct me if that's spelled wrong] We were going to watch the broadcast of College semi's. We got there and waited for people to show up. We didn't know if anyone would, but then Derek and Miranda did. Yayy! So we got them to change the channel to CSTV, and we sat down to order food. Sydney sat next to Chichi, and me next to Brian. Woo hoo! I accidentally ordered what I thought was just a half rack of ribs, but what I later found to be accompanied by onion rings AND french fries. Holy wack it was a lot of food. [I wonder if it's still in Brian's fridge...] Then the lovely Amber showed up, and her and Chris got a little cozy [Aw!] while we all ate. It was a lot of fun, and we left just after womens semi's were over. Out in the parking lot people were traversing. Oh wow. I think to this day I'm the only one that never did it.
We all arrived back at Brians house. We played a shit load of video games, and then decided to go play some over at the high school. I don't remember if we ever played any hot box. Maybe one game, and then the traversing started. It was so hilarious, watching Cale between Robins legs, in the dark. A little asian baby was being born! *edited for content* Then tag started, as Sydney's shoes were stolen and then everyone got a bit wet from the grass. So we all went back inside and played more video games. I remember Amber calling her family to see if she could stay the night -- she even asked for tips on how to convince them to say yes. But in the end they agreed and we all hung out a bit more before sleep time was announced. I stood there as everyone claimed spaces, not knowing where to go. I wanted to sleep next to Brian, yes, but I didn't know what he wanted. I didn't want to creep him out so I did lay down but kept my distance. I mean, he's not available, so I decided to leave it up to him. Lights were turned out. I got up to see what all the comotion was about, after everyone finally shut up. Sydney and Robin were stretching and doing yoga! It was hilarious to watch. But anyway, I layed back down and tried to get comfy... all by my lonesome self. Then! Brian moves over and sort of lifts me up and puts his arm around me so I can comfortably lay on his chest. Mind you it wasn't so comfortable, because after awhile my cheek got stuck to his pectoral, and that was a little hard pulling my head away. As I was just about to fall asleep I feel a soft little kiss on my cheek -- and then another. And another. I was like oi I'm trying to sleep, but at the same time I was like Wooooo hooooo!
I did eventually get to sleep that night.
The next day I got up at 8 when a comotion was made and Brian wasn't next to me anymore. That was kind of awkward to me, and I don't really ever remember connecting eyes with him the rest of the day. I guess Dan's chair popped up in the middle of the night, and he woke up in an upright chair, not reclined like it once was. That was hilarious. We did eventually leave his house, at about 10am, when Bob Wang came to pick us up. Goodbyes were said. I don't really remember getting anything more than a hug [which I didn't really feel welcome to] from Brian. I had a better goodbye from Andrew. Oh well, what was I to expect? Nothing but a fling, aye? Best not to get attached.
So that was a hard time for me, I cried on the plane all the way to Chicago, and then a lot at home when I found out my grandpa died, and just general withdrawl from such great people. If any more of you read this besides Amber, you guys rock, I miss you lots, and I hope all is well. You know where to find me if you ever want to talk.
[I finished it Amber, I finished it! It took me another 40 minutes, but I did it! Yay for me!]
Now comment, beotches.
