Taking a stab in the dark. Been over a year since i read those books. I know its not Fearce Invalids Home from hot Climates. My guess is, Still Life with Woodpecker? Not to sure however cause i read that book of his about 4 years ago.

Okay okay... so it was a short story published for Playboy in about 1979.
He started out talking about the purpose of the moon in Still Life with Woodpecker but then continued the full explaination in this short story.
I was tring to find an excerpt from Villa Incognito but i couldnt...
