My Rent review of last night's show if anyone wants to read it...

It was a great show last night. The cast was totally ON.
It was my first time seeing Antonique, and I loved her. Her voice is so strong and everything just seems so effortless. She was crying so hard in GL..she was so choked up she could barely get some of the words out towards the end. Out Tonight was amazing. I love everything about her voice. Just so, so great.
Jay was very good last night. I saw him a couple of months ago as Roger, and I really didn't like him, but last night I enjoyed his performance a lot. His Roger is angry..not to the level of like Jeremy's Roger..but pretty angry. He does a mini-table slam in HNY B that I like a lot. His voice was much stronger last night than the first time I saw his Roger. The only thing I didn't really like was his "Mimi!" at the end. He just didn't seem to be all that into it.
Matt was really great last night. Best I've seen him in a while. His T:M was great..he had Crystal cracking up. It was great. He made the funniest sounding laugh at the end of T:M when Maureen calls on the pay phone. He and Jay sounded great during WYO.
D'Monroe is always so good. I really have no complaints about his performance. I've only seen him and Stu..and he wins by a long shot.
Crystal was great. Gorgeous voice. It was nice to see someone other than Merle (I love Merle, but this was the first time I saw someone other than her). She did a lot of things differently and I enjoyed the changes she made quite a bit. Her Joanne was more disappointed in Maureen and snarky than Merle's sort of bitchy, in charge Joanne. They both work and I like both portrayals..it was just nice to see the role changed up a bit. She had great chemistry with Nicolette.
Nicolette was awesome. Why isn't this girl full time Maureen? Her OTM was very energetic and she was hilarious. She did a little tumble before "pushed over a cliff," which was a cool surprise. She has a really great, loud voice. She and Crystal just tore up TMOLM.
Frenchie's solo was at it's best last night. I swear she just gets better every time I see the show. She and Destan sound so great together at the end of ICY:R. I love her solo so much..and her bag lady is fabulous too.
Destan. Hm. I don't know what it is, but EVERYTHING he does makes my friend and I laugh. The way he sang "and firewood" just made us crack up..and then the really bad part is that we laugh through his whole reprise until the ensemble comes in. It's terrible. We're not loud..it just looks like we're both crying hysterically or something, but we cannot watch his ICY:R without laughing. I love his Santa Fe, though. The runs are just so great. That song is the only thing that saves his performance. He's leaving soon, so I'm not going to worry about it. I'll miss him, just for his Santa Fe.
Justin is always amazing. I have nothing bad to say about him. Always so consistent and energetic. A highlight of the cast. His T4U is so lively and fun..and his voice. I'm just in awe every time I hear him sing those high notes at the end of HNY. His Contact solo was incredible last night. His voice just kills me.
Marcus needs to be made full time Collins when Destan leaves. End of story. He's so good and so underused. I love his SOLo so much. His voice is so strong and everything he does in the show is just great. His smile lights up the stage (I know that sounds really stupid, but he just has such a great presence).
Owen's Will I solo is so beautiful. His voice is so pure..it's just gorgeous.
Everyone else was good..I don't really have much else to say. Mayumi's Alexi seemed a little more toned down than normal last night..I'm not sure why. She was still hilarious and cute as hell, though. Colin was great..his Mr. Grey just cracks me up every time I see it. The facial expressions! Just great.
Great show last night..one of the best I've seen in a long time. For anyone wondering, all the sound issues have been cleared up and it sounds GREAT now. You can easily hear the harmonies in the song Rent and in everything else. Last time I saw the show the sound was really messed up and you couldn't hear a lot of things that were going on.
I was extremely impressed by Antonique. I was afraid to see her because Karmine is such an amazing Mimi, but she didn't disappoint at all. I'm in love with her voice.
Ok, this is way too long, so I'm going to stop now. Great, great show last night. Just amazing.
So, today was all right. I was wayyy tired in school..but I managed to stay awake all day. I had a test in like every class, which SUCKED..but I survived. Talked about Antonique with Justin and Jackie all through lunch, and then in Chambers the guys got their tuxes together, and half way through the period we decided to practice our music. We weren't going to today because a lot of us were absent. We just stood around the piano and went through "Come Again, Sweet Love," "Loch Lomond," "Barber of Seville Overture," and "Jingle Bells." Fun stuff. Fun stufff. Then we said goodbye to Jackie because she and the 3 other SATB All State kids are leaving for Atlantic City today (well, they left already, but whatever).
The rest of the day was blah.
I'm tired as hellll. I can't wait to go to sleep tonight..I'm going to try to hold out for a few more hours.
Over the 4 days break I'm going to study my ass off, go to the football game Friday (we might actually WIN..Spotswood apparently sucks more than we do. Is that even possible?). Saturday is the mr. Ray concert. So, that's at 8. Should be fun. Sunday...I don't know yet. I'll probably make several trips to the mall too. I just want to relax, catch up on sleep and hang out.
I can't wait for Treble and A Cappella on Monday. Ooooh!! And Mr. Brown said I can be a SOP 1 next year (as in my senior year..not like January) in A Cappella!! I'm so excited. As long as he keeps me as alto 2 in Chambers, I'm happy.
