Don't beat yourself down about it.
I've been in your position so many times.
So many of us can say, boys suck and all but it doesn't really change anything. Just think of how we put him on a pedistool when there isn't really anything special about him.
Name all the negative things you can think of him; think of the bad things, not the good things. You'll see that its more of a facade then it is reality.

ahh yes, in specific areas, we are worse then guys.

but at least we're more inclined to thinking about how we react (even if it is making a snide comment, or spreading a rumor)
