Sooooo everyone ive been gone for about 4 days now. I had so much fun. The ride up there was ok it wasn’t too long, only about 13 and a half hours. I went through Nevada and saw Las Vegas and all of its beauty, I went through Utah and saw all the cool mountains and there was one that looked like the titanic, then it stared snowing and snowing and raining and it was cool, went to a Denny’s in Utah and everyone stared at my dad and I, maybe we looked like we were from California, ha. Thennnnn we got into Colorado and it was 2 hours till we got to where my uncles house is. I thought we were going into this kinda big city, well its just a little (I mean little) town. We drove up and my dad says “were here” , I looked around and all there was nothing. The town is called Maybell and it is the smallest town I have ever seen. We drove up and there is a gas station with one fill up thing and it is also the town store, then next to that is a restaurant called R Family Restaurant then there are about 20 houses and that is about it. Yes that is it there is nothing else and the town is only maybe a mile long, not even a mile. So yea we get there and walk into my uncles house which looks normal from the outside but then I went in and man it looks like it was an office building trying to be a house, there is a picnic table, a chair made out of yarn, a daybed, two tv’s and a wood burning stove in one room which is the kitchen and the living room and the whole house practically there is no carpet in the whole house then you walk back and there is a bathroom but there is no running water in the house, then there is dads room where the wall is half missing on the inside then grant and his dads room with two beds in it, then my room with a big bed but the room just looks like im homeless or something. But o well it did have a heater in it so that was good, each room had controls for the heat for your room, I was boiling the first night because dad didn’t tell me I could control it so he just turned it on and I was dying cuse I had a heater blanket and a mummy bag. Blah, so dad and alex(grants dad) go to bed and grant and I cant sleep so we whipped out the cards and played speed and war, then we got one of the tv’s working and watched the only channel that came in and it was CSI and ER. We went to bed and woke up really early and went off hunting, but when we woke up I didn’t realize the night before that there was a graveyard right across the street from the house. Scary. Hugh is the guy that took us hes really cool, we went off roading and everything with him and his big truck, dad got the first elk but it was funny cuse he was stumbling everywhere trying to get it, and then I went with him to go walk over to it and gut it while Hugh went and got grant and alex from where they were dropped off at. And really it wasn’t that gross but then again I have a strong stomach. Yahootie was tugging on the legs of the elk the whole time dad was gutting it. Then we went back to camp after a looooong while and got Alex’s gun b/c him and grant were using bow and arrows so we went to the little restaurant for lunch and man everyone knows everyone and no one looked happy to work there. Then we went back out hunting and I was the elk spotter cuse I wasn’t allowed to hunt and I found every single one of them for grant and alex. Alex shot one and it fell and when we went to get it the dang thing had fell down the hill so they had to go down and get it. Then we went to get grant one about 45 min later and I found it and he jumped out to use his bow and he couldn’t get it so he used the rifle and he got it in the first shot. So again we had to go out and gut it and then haul both Alex’s elk and grants back to the house. So we get back to camp and Pat and his son danny were there so dad and me and danny and pat went back out hunting for there elk and grant and alex stayed at home. We got one more elk but that thing fought so hard. It sucked. But yea so that’s what happened. We came home yet again and dad and grant and alex all went out to the barn and started skinning the elk, when there all skinned it reminds me of the blood brothers sweatshirt. Anyways that day was cold very cold and I kept running back and forth from the house to the barn and something kept following me when I was outside it was really scary with the graveyard right across the street and all. But yea the next morning Pat and Danny and Dad went back out and got one more elk making 5 elk total. No more were being shot, we were done. But when I woke up that day (Saturday morning) I looked out the window and it was snowing. It was so beautiful, all the little snowflakes falling on the ground. So I got dressed and went out to explore around the property, I found another cabin with about ten beds in it for when all the hunters come to stay during the real hunting season, then I walked around the back of the barn and ha stupid me I slipped and ate shit there was ice all around the back but since it was snowing it was covering up the ice so yea I ate it pretty good, im just a little sore. I got to shoot a pellet gun and that was all I was really allowed to shoot cept for the rifle I got to shoot at the guts. Long story. So that was the last day we were there Saturday, we left around noon that day and went on the long drive home. On the way home Grant was driving his car and my dad in ours and we were going through this one area and it was snowing soooooo hard and grant couldn’t see cuse he was following my dad to close and he spun out and almost flipped the car, it was pretty scary. So instead of driving all the way through to get home we stopped in St. George, Utah and stayed at the best western. We brought yahootie in one of the rooms and dad was playing with her and she barked and he jumped up and was like nooooo shhhh I guess you had to be there it was so funny. And that shower that night was the best shower in the whole world since I hadn’t had one for about 4 days. Gross I know but there was no running water. But yea the ride home was kinda boring but it was a very nice trip getting to spend with my dad. I wish I did it more often, hung out with my family that is, I miss doing stuff as a family or just with one of them. All in all it was one of the best bonding experiences I have ever had and ill never forget it.
