I've never encountered that problem, neither with my trucks nor my tractors and I've been changing oil for more years than I care to remember.

From the lack of comments, I'd assume our little group isn't familiar with oil pan plugs and things of that nature and neither am I. I just wanted to say "hi" so you don't get lonely with your problem. %>

This sounds like it would be great information for you as it is everything about motor oil comparisons, synthetics, change intervals, filters:

I'm afraid it doesn't address the oil pan plug situation, though. :o(

Thanks, I was able to get the oil pan problem fixed. It turned out the threads were stripped on the oil pan itself and that they are aluminum and are very easy to strip and that you have to be extremely careful when replacing the bolt so that you don't strip them. I took it to a Village Collision center and for $55 they re-threaded it or drilled it out and threaded it to use a bigger bolt or something but they re did the threads so not it isn't stripped at all and no longer leaks any oil so that is good. I'll have to be very careful with that from now on so I don't strip it again if I was the one to strip it. He also said that with the aluminum you can't over tighten it either or that can also strip it. So it's best to tighten it a little and if it leaks some oil then you can always tighten it just a little bit more until it doesn't leak anymore and then you know it is tight enough.
