Yusei had never known when his birthday was. Jack and Crow didn't either, for that matter. It was one of the many downsides of growing up in an orphanage.
When Yusei had arrived there, as a tiny baby, Martha had correctly assumed that he had been born in early August, and had therefore chosen a date for him. August 10th. He had no way of knowing if it was even remotely close, but since he had nothing else to go on, that was what he went with.
As the morning of the day he used as his birthday rolled around, Yusei tiredly made his way down the stairs, yawning. He had gone to bed late last night, and had gotten up early this morning, so his tired eyes didn't see Crow waiting by the bottom of the stairs, munching on a piece of toast.
He passed by without a word, heading straight for where the D-Wheels were parked, and he felt an orange blur attack him around his middle, knocking him over.
"Happy Birthday! I can't believe you didn't notice me." Crow said happily.
"Thanks, Crow. I guess I'm just tired." Yusei answered.
Crow rolled off the taller and flopped back onto the cement. "You need to get more sleep. You're just going to fall over out of exaustion one of these days."
"Heh, I'll be fine." Yusei smiled, getting to his feet and brushing himself off.
A large bang was heard from upstairs along with an 'ow!'. Bruno, source of said ow, stumbled down the stairs, tripping over the last few and landing flat on his face at the bottom.
"G-good morning, guys." he said, picking himself up akwardly. "Why is Crow on the ground?"
"Because it's Yusei's birthday." Crow answered, getting to his feet as well.
"Oh! Happy Birthday, Yusei! But that doesn't explain why you were on the floor..."
Just then, Jack burst in the front door as he usually did, carrying a coffee. He stalked his way over to the others, making sure to smack Bruno on the way, and stopped in front of Yusei, and planted a kiss on the smaller's cheek.
"Happy Birthday, love."
Yusei flushed slightly and smiled. "Thanks."
"Get a room, you two." Crow waved. "I know today's special and stuff, but we still have work to do."
"But-"
"Don't argue, Jack. Crow's right, I have a lot of repairs to make today." Yusei said, turning away. Bruno stumped back up the stairs to retrieve some papers, and Crow went over to his bike to load up his deliverys, leaving Jack standing alone in the middle of the garage. He followed Yusei to his work bench and wrapped his arms around the younger man's middle.
"Your present is coming later." Jack whispered in his ear.
Yusei's face went bright red.
