Of course he would arrive now. Oriya did not need to be informed by any of his young servants to know that Muraki had arrived, the swordsman could feel it. Not that such a thing was anything new, his old friend had a spirit both subdued and wild. It was impossible to ignore.
Oriya sighed, tapping his pipe on his teeth. He should have known Muraki would not die so easily... He nodded to the young girl waiting nearby, wordlessly giving permission for her to see the doctor in.
Having been shown into Oriya's private quarters, he stood in the doorway a momentary look of intense loss on his face before he covered it with his usual facade. Briefly, he wondered why he had even come here; for comfort? How could he receive comfort if he didn't tell the brunette what had happened? The answer was of course, he couldn't. His friend was however very perceptive, so he may not need to go into detail anyway.
"It's been a while, Oriya," he began, moving out of the doorway and into the room. "Thank you for agreeing to see me at such short notice."
Returning with his tail set firmly between his legs, Muraki was the very image. Indeed, Oriya was perceptive and his friend's state of being was not lost on the man in the least, though what could get Muraki in such a state was somewhat baffling. The doctor was not one to mourn unless whatever lost was truly important. For a moment the swordsman was tempted to stop breathing for fear it was related to Ukyou...
"Of course," Oriya gestured to the floor with a nod of his head. "Please be seated."
At the invitation, he sat himself down and made himself comfortable, cross-legged on the floor. "How is business?" he asked politely. Not that he cared about the answer, but it was anything he could think of so he wouldn't have to talk about what had happened. With any luck, the samurai knew this and would go along with it, at least for a little while... or so he hoped.
Muraki being polite, this must have been a serious affair after all-- not to say that Muraki didn't have his moments where his manners didn't abandon hims, but all the same. The swordsman lifted a brow lazily, inhaling a calming breathe of smoke before exhaling moments later.
"It is the same as it's always been," came the simplistic response. "Would you care for some tea?"
