Hisoka waited until Watari had passed through the door and invited him to come inside to move, his legs almost creaking as he stepped as quietly as he could onto the wooden floor. He let out a small inaudible sigh and nodded when Watari mentioned leaving the room
( ... )
After a moment Watari curled up on the bed trying to make himself as small as possible. He couldn't go back for his clothes--he couldn't face Muraki again. Not after realizing he wouldn't be able to forgive the other for everything. It wasn't like he could ask ANYONE in Meifu to go back for them.
All of that reminded him of the events that had passed and the scientist let out a small whimper as the emotions swelled up again. It was a wave and slowly it began to grow bigger and more overwhelming. He tossed and turned on the bed trying to avoid it. All he succeeded in doing was tangling his hair into small knots and wrinkling his sheets.
Hisoka closed his eyes for a moment, feeling as if he could just drift off into a light doze any minute. The heat was making his entire body warm under his long-sleeved shirt and jeans. Somewhat... dizzy...
Suddenly he shot upright, feeling emotions drift from the bedroom down the hall, mixing in with the heat, bringing him back to full awareness and realization that yes, Watari still needed someone to lean on; that yes, he was stil as fragile as before. That was why he - Hisoka - had come, right?
The empath shakily got to his feet and willed himself to walk down the hall, mentally forcing the emotions back as much as possible to maintain his awareness of everything: how hot the apartment was getting to be, where and what he was feeling, how fast he was walking, and more.
Hisoka reached the bedroom door, finding it cracked, and ever so slightly he pushed it open. "Watari?"
Watari gave up on the tossing and turning, settling on curling up as tight as possible. The emotions welling up. Somewhere in his mind he registered Hisoka was nearby and managed to form a weak shield up.
Other than that the scientist didn't move. His eyes were crammed shut and his arms pressed close to his chest. He didn't make a move or a sound to acknowledge that he'd heard Hisoka.
The empath didn't know what to make of the scientist's tossing and turning, but as soon as he had spoken, it immediately stopped. He knew Watari had somehow heard him because the shields that had lay broken were now up again, if only really as effective as a glass window.
Hisoka hesitated before taking a step into the room, his mind protesting against it, and shutting the door behind him. It was as if he were sealing his fate, keeping himself in the room with someone who would probably never forgive him in eternity.

But he could still try to help. Right?
He decided to try again. "Watari?"
