"Older and wiser" has its advantages

When separating an egg just now, I clumsily got a tiny bit of yolk in with the egg white in the mixer bowl. Years ago, I would have felt obligated to try beating the egg white anyway, but now I have accepted that that would be folly. Eggs... Such tetchy things. I've always loved tapioca pudding.

My mom's always loved it, too, and there have been times when she's been in severe pain when that's all she'd eat. There have been other times when she wouldn't even eat that, and those times were particularly worrisome.

I bought three more boxes of tapioca at the grocery store today. That ought to last me a little while.

There's almost no nutritional value in tapioca but sometimes the calories are all you need and when you make it into pudding it can certainly keep you going.

There's an egg. And milk. (And a bunch of sugar and some vanilla and tapioca.) So, it's not full of vitamins, but it does have calories and some protein and calcium.

At this point, I'm just happy to be able to make something which gives her pleasure to eat. That's the reason she also gets the occasional snack sized Milky Way bar!
