The six Mitford sisters are interesting, and if you're looking around at stuff from (particularly) the 30's, 40's, and 50's in England, you'll come across them, because they knew everybody who was somebody (as the saying goes).
One of the six, Jessica, wound up living in the USA, and wrote a lot--including a book critical of the funeral industry called "The American Way of Death." The six took up widely different political views, ranging from communism to fascism. I don't think I'd have wanted to spend a lot of time around them, but they're fascinating to read about.
