Zen and the art of writing

I can’t find it now, but a while back I saw a little comic on what you should do to help balance your life as a writer. Like getting exercise, leaving the house, etc. The one that I have the hardest time with is taking time to consume as well as produce.

I used to be a prolific reader, but writing has really cut into that. And writers are supposed to read, so... Also, I have a lot of reading stacking up for research, so that's another complication.

But last week I researched nearby libraries to find a place I can go once or twice a week just for that. I can't get my reading done at home, and coffee houses are for writing, not reading, as far as I'm concerned. So maybe this will work.

Hmm...I might try that.

I, too, have a hard time reading while writing. I end up spending more time thinking about the book I'm reading than the one I'm writing. I also noticed that those time when I might have been listening to an audiobook, for instance, I had some really great creative epiphanies about WIP. I'm afraid of missing out on them. Maybe time at a library is a good alternative.

Thanks!
