Drabble Archives: Batman (Begins)

Most of my Batman Begins drabbles (I know there are some missing, I have to root around and find them all). Ratings from PG to PG-13 with pairings including Wayne/Crane and Fox/Alfred

Business Trip (PG)
For dancinbutterfly: Wayne/Crane that's a happy ending.

Paris is nice in July and Bruce spends most of his meeting staring out the window. He escapes after lunch to a café and fumbles the order since his French isn’t even passable. Jonathan slides into the next chair and saves him from further embarrassment by ordering for both of them.

Jonathan looks good, much better then he had in Prague and the way his foot is running up the inside of Bruce’s calf is very nice.

Bruce burns his mouth on his coffee and doesn’t care. “I’ve got another meeting in Lisbon in a fortnight.”

“I’ll bring my sunscreen.”

Untitled (PG)
For 3sunshine3: Scarecrow/Batman. Crane at one point uses the phrase: "Brucey, I'm home!" Extra points for maniacal laughter.
Note: Mention of DC’s New York, and Spider-Man

Oddly enough, Alfred would think the same thing in Wayne manor that any unseen viewer might have thought in Norman Osbourne’s house: If he heard maniacal laughter around the house, his first thought wouldn’t have been, ‘My lover (in Bruce’s case), or father (in Harry’s) is home.’

But when Bruce heard high-pitched laughter, his first response was, “Jonathan?” to be answered by the Scarecrow calling out, “Brucey, I’m home!” before dissolving into fits of gigglings.

Not that Alfred would complain. After all, butlers are the same as any other unseen viewer, only they have to do the housekeeping as well.

What to do Once the Toast is Made (PG)
For matchstick: Bruce/Jonathan, and the phrase, "I'm sorry you're crazy, but Vegemite is better".

“What are you, Australian?” Jonathan demanded. “That’s disgusting.”

Bruce sighed. “Australians, vegemite, or myself?”

Jonathan sneered at him. “Vegemite of course, you uncultured cretin.” He held the bread out of arm’s reach. “Butter, yes; peanut butter or-”

“Peanut butter?” Bruce wrinkled his nose. “Considering your mental health, I’m going to ignore that one.”

“Ha! I’m not the one who prances about on rooftops dressed like a bat, am I?”

Bruce sighed again. “I’m sorry you’re crazy, Jonathan, but Vegemite is better. Now put the toast down.”

Jonathan did as he was told and stomped off to go polish his scythe.

As Always (PG)
For joanne_c: Alfred/Lucius; An explanation of the line "A pleasure, as always"

He says it casually. No one would notice; certainly not Bruce, all caught up in his dual lives.

They know.

Alfred smiles because he and Lucius have been friends since they met at one of Bruce’s father’s functions where Lucius spent all evening distracting Alfred from his duties. They have been lovers since, and never mind that society would raise its eyebrows for any number of reasons.

Alfred’s job is twenty four hours, seven days a week, but they are not young, impatient men and each time they see one another, no matter how brief, is a pleasure, as always.

What The Butler Saw (PG)
For rubynye: Alfred/Lucius.

It is not what one might call a torrid affair since they’re both old enough to know better.

Alfred gets up (not as early as he used to now that Bruce usually sleeps in til one) and makes them both tea. Alfred takes his with two sugars, Lucius with only a splash of cream.

Lucius reads him the important bits in the paper while Alfred dresses, punctuating it with comments to make Alfred laugh.

Last weekend Bruce was gone so they spent a guilty Saturday in bed. It’s their little family that makes Wayne Manor feel like a home again.

Emotion Sickness (pg-13)
For belleimani: Wayne/Crane, of course. Perhaps a Rachel perspective of them?

It wasn’t jealousy. Rachel was jealous of Bruce’s blonde one night stands in an odd sort of way because they were too stupid to care about Gotham, about justice, about the man they were sleeping with, about anything more than if their tiny purses matched their tiny dresses and ignorance did seem to be bliss.

It was bitterness, Rachel decided; Finding out that the Scarecrow, the lunatic who’d tried to cripple Gotham with fear, was now not only not in Arkham Asylum but was Bruce’s…boyfriend? Fuck-buddy? Captive with benefits?

That Crane could be what Bruce needed, when she had failed.
