So you might as well have a good time

The elevator doors 'ding'ed open and Eli entered the Tower. He'd had a nice, long ...involved talk with his grandparents about being a super hero and being more polite to Captain America and how he was never allowed to scare them like that againNow his only question was where was everyone else ( Read more... )

The Tower was quiet today. After Cassie yelled at him and stormed out Kristoff had (eventually) gone to look for her.

"I haven't seen you in some time." Kristoff folded his arms and looked at the Young Avenger. He paused.

He would at least try to get along with Cassie's friends. "Are you feeling better?"

"Yeah, I am." Eli said, eyeing Kristoff suspiciously. "Any idea why the Tower's so quiet today? It seems a bit unusual."

Well, it might not be anyone he was hoping to see, but at least the Tower wasn't completely abandoned. Kristoff didn't seem to be his usual, annoying self, which was also good.

"I came by to see how everyone was doing."

"I don't know why. I usually don't leave my lab." Kristoff paused. "The others must be somewhere in the Tower, we aren't supposed to leave."

If Cassandra left the tower it was going to be his turn to yell at her. She at least could have brought him along for protection.

"Mm." Eli replied in non-committal tone. That probably meant that the others had left the Tower. The Young Avengers as a whole weren't that good about following the orders of authority figures. Eli would probably say that it was both a strength and a weakness of theirs, but they seemed to have most things in hand without the adults barging in and taking over.

They probably could have dealt with the Kree soldiers on their own.

Eli knew that most teenagers tended to act as if they were never going to die. Considering that he'd just been shot in the stomach, though, he was willing to bet that he had a better perspective on it.

"Well, let's see if we can find anyone." he said, turning and heading down the hall. He wondered if Kristoff was going to follow or not.

"Vernard..." Molly tried not to sound disappointed. "Man, I totally wish my last name was Doom. Molly Doom!!! It's gotta be the coolest last name in the world. Hayes is booorrring. Why couldn't my parents have cool supervillain names?"

She stood there, half pouting at the unfairness of it all. The two boys noticing Karolina didn't even register to her, at least not visibly. She already knew Karolina was pretty. If anything, she hoped she'd be as pretty as Karolina or Nico or Gert someday. Molly didn't want to grow up, but she did really want to be pretty.

"More of the other way around." Eli responded to Karolina's question. "I haven't been here for awhile and was wondering what happened to my team. Molly thought that you might have some idea where everyone else was."

I shouldn't have been gone this long. he thought. It's not like I needed the recovery time. And now I have to ask a stranger what happened to my teammates.

Eli's abdomen twitched at him -- it may not have been badly injured, but it was still tender. It twinged at him when he started to tense up. He hoped that side-effect had a limited life-span. In the meantime, he took a deep breath through his nose and tried to relax a bit.

"Wait," Karolina's eyes widened in alarm, "Tell me you at least know about the Skrull incident!" He must, there had been nothing else on the news since it happened. The poor guy looked frustrated beyond belief, something she could sympathize with. She'd certainly felt lost after returning to Earth only to find that Nico had been kidnapped ( ... )

"I know about the Kree and Skrull thing." Eli said. "I saw it on the news and spent the better part of several hours trying to get ahold of someone who could tell me what happened." And reassure me that everyone was all right.

"I'm up-to-date on everything up until the riot over in Mutant Town." he said as Karolina got to her feet. Several days of grandparent-enforced bed-rest and frantic calls from his mother when she'd heard the news hadn't really put him in a relaxed mood. Especially when it was his own stupidity that had nearly gotten him killed in the first place.

That had been awkward.

Eli really hated being out of the loop. There was that Skrull who was posing as a human girl again -- hadn't she been the one who had been planing to leave the planet? What was she still doing here? Presumably Teddy knew about this, but still. Eli didn't know what was going on and he really, really hated that.

Tact, Elijah. he reminded himself, and bit off an accusative question before it left his mouth.

Molly made a face at Nico's suggestion. "Bleh. Maria? I like Molly better! Maria sounds like a mom. Not that I don't want to be a mom one day. Just not now!"

She paused thoughtfully. "Maybe I'll name one of my kids Doom..."

"Now that's just mean, Mol," Nico said with a wry grin. "I mean, the kid would HAVE to grow up to be a super-villain." She finally aknowledged Xavin's arival with a nod and a polite, "Entierly spontanious." She was going to make the effort to be nice to Xavin, for Karolina's sake, if nothing else.

"So we going to sit around here all day as Molly convinces us to let her keep Doom in her name or are we going to go find the others?"

Chase had a bigger grin on his face as he looked over to Eli.

"You ever feel like no one on your team listens to you?"

The Vision phased through the wall so quickly that he very nearly solidified on top of Chase. Someone who knew him very well would have noticed a hint of panic around his eyes, but he was very good at disguising such things.

"Vision!" Eli said, startled. "We were just looking for you." his brow furrowed. "Is something wrong?"

"[The Avengers recieved a message from Hawkeye just over twenty minutes ago.]" the Vision said. "[He was reporting a kidnapped super hero and requesting heavy hitters and that they not involve us at all.]"

"So what's the bad news?" Eli asked.

"[He was calling from Mrs. Xanathos' ice cream shop. I have reason to suspect that it's Sinesis again.]"

"Didn't you say that you heard our friends going over to the ice cream shop?" Eli demanded, whirling on Karolina. Oh hell, not again...

Nico took a few moments to swear creatively under her breath as she hurried to the Leapfrog. "So what are we waiting for? Lets go!" she said, fumbling around in her pocket for her knife.

"I didn't hear anything about anyone named Sinesis!" Karolina raised her hands defensively. She hated it when leader types flipped out on her; nothing made her feel smaller. "But yeah, they're going to the witch's house."

Time to mount up. She stripped her bracelet off and tucked it away. No telling what kind of trouble they might run into on the way.

The Leapfrog's hatch opened as they approached, and once again Karolina questioned its inherent intelligence. The thing was creepy, no two ways about it, but also kind of comforting in a large, impenetrable metal sort of way. She glided in and took a look around.

Nowhere NEAR enough seats for all the butts they were going to be packing in.

"Molly, buckle up," she said.

Molly had pretty much just been following along, thinking about whether or not a child named Doom could grow up to be a GOOD guy. It couldn't be impossible! Nobody HAD to be evil. Most of the badguys had to have something good about them!

She followed them right up and into the leapfrog, still pondering this. When Karolina ordered her to buckle up, she did it almost without thinking about it, although she was drawn back to reality just a bit.

"Sinesis sounds like an STD..."
