Chase pulled his switchblade back out, if there was going to be trouble, he would most certainly help out anyway he could. He stood very defensively behind Hulkling waiting for whatever was about to attack them.
Cyrus raised up his furry hands in what he hoped would be read as a peaceful gesture.
"Nnnot herrre to fiiight." he said slowly, hoping that he could make himself understood. He then began to hum. It was a soothing noise, far more calming than any noise had the right to be. There was an undercurrent of apprehension to it, but it inforced his words -- not here to fight you.
Anole stepped forward, with his holding out his arms the same way the wolf man was to show he wasn't going to attack either. "Hi, I take it you guys are stuck here too?
"I'm Anole, and behind me are Chase, Hawkeye, and Hulkling. We're a little bit lost."
Chase raised his hand, more defiant and sarcastic than anything. He grinned as he looked over to Karolina who he was sure would hurt him for even joking at a time like this.
"So how exactly do a bunch of powered and non powered teenagers stand a chance against the crazy highlander? And if we beat him, am I the only one thinking thats our only way of escaping the night of the living dead?"
“The problem with that plan is he doesn’t die,” Eliza said. “Even immortals in Highlander died if you cut off their heads. He just gets back up and keeps coming. The best that can be done is beat him back for a little while and hope for rescue. I’m sure my grandmother is looking for me, if no one else, and she’s been dealing with the beast for years.”
And there’s always Davie, a traitorous part of her mind whispered. If I call him, he always comes.
But THAT was most definitely the weapon of last resort. In fact, it wasn’t really an option at all.
Karolina absently swatted at Chase's shoulder. Honestly, the Highlander?
"If we're going to beat him back, then we need to get everyone in one place," Karolina said thoughtfully. There was no question in her mind that her friends would be here, somewhere. Though she would never point it out, Chase had no powers, and here he was. Surely Nico, Victor, Molly and Gert would be even more appetizing (ugh, she shuddered just to think that word) to the Highlander. "You've said you can feel them, Eliza, but does anyone have any idea how big this place is? Like, is it its own little world, or just a fenced off area?"
She glanced at the red sky again, remembering the way it seemed to come down like a belljar. The only question was, how BIG a jar?
"As much as I would like to more about what's going we need to focus on what we need. And what we need is some shelter," Anole said, " We need a safe place to rest an wait for our rescue," he threw a glance at Eliza, "If it comes in time."
"I'm with Spikey," Karolina said wearily. The altercation between Xavin and Eliza had been over too quickly for her to intervene...mostly because the shouting struck her head far more seriously than it should have. She was still seeing stars from all the raised voices, and the arm nearest to Xavin felt crispy from the heat. "I don't know what this place is doing to the rest of you, but that sunlight...I feel wired all wrong."
"A few hours' rest won't hurt anyone, and our friends are pretty heavy hitters themselves," she swallowed to steady her voice a little. "Anybody too macho to take a nap can stand watch for this Beast."
She didn't look at Xavin or Chase when she said it but, then, did she really need to?
Xavin changed into her female form and moved to support Karolina. "A base would be beneficial. It seems we will be here for some time." Xavin scowled as she said this. The idea of staying in this place, especially with Karolina in her weakened state, was not a pleasant thought.
Eliza shuddered, going pale as Xavin changed shape, and she took a few steps away from the Super-Skrull-in-Training. “Fine, whatever, lets just do it,” she said, hiding behind Cyrus and looking like she might just throw up at any moment.

Sure, it wasn't brave to let Cyrus act as a human (well, lycanthropic) sheild, but he could take the damage a LOT better than she could.
