there's really no simple approach to afghanistan, which is the least enlightening statement i could ever make. "talks with the taliban" seems to be a suggestion that has been isolated and judged alone based on the current situation over there. it doesn't take a genius to figure out that you can't talk about "talks with the Taliban" without discussing Canadian/American foreign policy, NATO involvement, peace operations, soldier fatalities, etc. just like 9/11 and Iraq, talk about American/corporate economic interests, racism, media bias, etc. are relevant. but maybe this is sounding old
