I agree with you about people being rather pessimistic here. However, I have made some of the greatest friends and met some of the kindest people I've ever known while living here in Saint-Petersburg. Russia is definitely EXTREME in every sense of the word (the weather, the people--and their personalities, the clothing, architecture, etc.). Russia provokes one to really feel alive, whether that be happy or sad. It is definitely its own world. But I love it tremendously, even though sometimes I yearn to be home. :))) Have a nice day, too!

Really, Saint-Petersburg beautiful city, there are a lot of charming streets and there are a lot of fascinating people

There are a lot of myths about Russians here in the USA, most of them propaganda still left over from the cold war. I hate it when governments lie.

Sadly, I think some things are true. I joined a Russian Lj community about America, hoping to make some Russian friends there. While some of them treated me well, some of them were really nasty to me specifically because I am an American.

I think that these people are not smart and they have inferiority complex. Also politics is business and politicians do money and unfortunately they forget about audience and don’t feel responsibility for public opinion due to we have cold wars. I hope that we can change this situation and when you and I have a conversation we broke these damned stereotypes.
