On the winding road of the interwebs, I stumbled across a talented writer's website with some very enjoyable fics. The pair of interrelated stories to which I'm linking focus on "how and why the Visored captains returned to Soul Society, including some Kensei/Hisagi." Thank you for the rec! I really liked the characterisation. (surprise: I read a Ken/Shu fic again! Sometimes reading fic about them is hard for me. Maybe because I still haven't finished my own stuff. It's a weird mix of feelings.) But this one was good and easy to read. Not feeling frustrated afterwords. :)

Oh, I didn't know it was hard for you to read KenShuu fics, but I think I can understand, and I'm glad you were able to get through this one unscathed.

I have more than one unfinished KenShuu fic myself, and there's one that I'd really like to work on, but I feel somehow frozen while the manga's final arc plays out.

It's a rather weird development for me. (I guess that just shows how many unresolved feelings I still have locked up inside my heart regarding those two characters)
Ahh, that story was really pleasant. The tone was right, the characters felt true - good stuff!

Aye, I feel the same. A part of me wonders silently what the point might be to finish my stuff, considering that the manga heads into a different direction. *sigh*

That's the beauty of fanfiction, though: you can change what you don't like about canon. You can bring characters back from the dead, work out unhappy relationships, and give a character shunted to the side in the original a chance to shine. Screw the direction the manga's heading in; write what you wanna write!
