I can't honestly the remember the last time I picked up a novel to read, I'm pretty sure it was back in high school when I realized that reading another author's work influenced my own writing style when I was trying to work on my original story. So glad to hear that you're reading again! I can understand how letting another author's style influence your own could be bad/frustrating, but in ever writing class I've ever taken, it has been stressed that in order to write well you must read. Everything. Read read read. There's nothing wrong with letting the experts help along your own writing style. Everyone's is unique, but it's the blend of everything you've read; it's still a part of you. And, maybe you'll be inspired to write again. Reading something amazing has always helped me re-open that Word document...

Nothing would stop my attempts at writing faster than, Example: noticing that a portion of my story had more 'quippy' conversations like those David Eddings writes, which although I adore isn't how I write ^_~

It would be an amazing thing if I somehow found my ability to write again through reading, but I got to be honest, I'm not holding my breath and I'm surprisingly okay with it all ^_~

Thanks!

And I totally agree, I hadn't considered picking up a novel until my mum wanted to share one of her favorites with someone, after Transformation I plan to pick up the one she recommended ^_^
