From this week's New York mag: "... a seven-foot book-shelf in a Brooklyn Judaica store suddenly collapsed, burying a customer in religious texts. (He survived.)"

It’s almost too funny. We all sometimes feel like we're buried under the weight of ancient Jewish text. This is the literal realization of our worst fears.

I cannot see how anyone who believes that "everything is ordained by god" understands such a thing. If you believe that god directly influences events here on earth, such as those who believe that He is responsible for Israel's military victories etc, then you must further believe that he directly caused this shelf to collapse on this guy. Thus, god clearly must be saying that he doesn't want people using sefarim, right?
