Farewell, Maxwell...

Today, one of our family cats, Maxwell (or "Max") passed away at the ripe old age of 19 (92 in human years), having been born way back in 1987.  My father found him out in the snow one cold New Jersey morning as a kitten and we have had him ever since, but recently he stopped eating and using the bathroom, so we think he may have had kidney failure ( Read more... )

I'm sorry to hear that.

I lost a cat when I was in high school, and I know that it hurts. Still, you're focusing on the positive memories, which is always the best way to handle it.

Yes, I think focusing on the positive is always the best way to handle such a situation...To consider something a "loss" is sort of selfish, don't you think? The person/being (animal, etc.) is most likely in a "better place," so in general it is better to celebrate their life and the good times you had with them (and that they had).
