For anyone interested...
Created in Maya 7.0 using basic box modeling techniques on my second day of 3D foundations (second month of classes). We were allowed a maximum polygon count of 300, which is why it looks so blocky (notice the number of "faces" displayed -- almost passed the limit!). It's comprised entirely of quads (four-sided polygons), nothing more, to cut down on render time. I made this as a prop for a six-second animated short for a group project. I haven't applied any textures or UV maps yet, since we haven't covered that in class. We're currently working on rigging and animating bipeds, which will also be used in the animated short. I'll see if I can create a small video to show you guys my first biped model. I rigged 'im this morning and had him do a little jig... funny stuff.
