What an Easter morning.

I...just saved my mom and i's life. Things are weird. Our furnace malfunctioned severely, and vented smoke. If i wasn't awake, we would've gotten carbon monoxided. As is, she had a severe athsma attack and is at the hospital right now, but seems to be doing alright. Her pulse dropped to 33 though...i'm worried sick and blogging to vent

Update...mom is doing fine. She's got a prescription for something or other just to be on the safe side. We're getting a CO detector tomorrow when wal-mart is open. And oddly enough, apparently it isn't the furnace, it was the oil. Not quite sure what's going on, but we're doing calls tomorrow. It was something potentially major horrific bad, but it was averted, thank god. Stil...not the way i'd want to spend easter morning.

There are detectors that check not just the CO but also for several potentially explosive fumes if those might apply to your home... which knowing NEPA they might.
