Chinen is currently washing the dishes, all his chores for the day was done. He has even finished containing Yamada’s dinner and placed it already in the refrigerator. Yamada usually gets home late; the earliest he got home was eleven o’clock in the evening. The latter couldn’t remember when was the last time the both of them ate dinner together, or when was the last time they went on a date.
Two years ago, Yamada told him that he would be home late due to paper works that needs to be done. It was fine for Chinen, since the younger knew how his lover can be when it comes to work. But then, Chinen noticed that Yamada would always come home late. He knew that deep inside there was something off, but he brushed away those thoughts since he has faith in his lover. He knew that Yamada would never cheat on him.
One night, on his way home from a little gathering with his friends, he caught a glance of a familiar figure sitting by the window on a cafe. Unconsciously, he started to walk towards the cafe, with his own eyes he saw his lover, he was about to enter the cafe and greet his lover, but then another guy sat by his lover, looks a bit younger and a bit smaller than his lover. To his shock Yamada kissed the guy, it was fine if it was on the cheeks; it could be that his ‘friend’ was from abroad, and it was only a form of greeting, but no... Yamada kissed the guy on the lips. For a few seconds, Chinen was frozen on the spot, he couldn’t believe his eyes. As soon as he came back to reality, he ran as fast as he can, he didn’t know where to go, but he just kept on running.
After that ‘incident’ Chinen started noticing his lover’s simple gestures. He noticed that whenever Yamada was home, his lover would always check his phone and would always get a call. Later on, Chinen knew the name of Yamada’s other lover, Arioka Daiki. They both met at an event held by Yamada’s family, and that where it all started.
Then 2 years later, here we are... a broken Chinen still in love with his cheating lover. Chinen couldn’t bring himself to end his relationship with his lover; he doesn’t even care if Yamada doesn’t come home that day or if his lover is currently fucking that ‘secret’ lover of his, because one thing’s for sure, he knew that he can never imagine a life without Yamada. He doesn’t even care about what other people will have to say about him, as long as he can stay beside Yamada, he’s fine.
Chinen was now getting ready for bed, when he heard the main door opened, he looked at the clock, 8:01 pm was written on the digital clock. Yamada wouldn’t be home in at least four hours from now, the latter felt terrified; it could be a burglar, or a murderer. Still, the latter gathered all the courage and went to see who was at the main door. To his surprise, it was Yamada, Chinen couldn’t believe his eyes, and he was about to call out his lover’s name, when he realized that Yamada’s expression was rather sad, not tired, but sad. ‘Something must have happened between them,’ Chinen thought, looking at his lover, he couldn’t help but to feel sad too. He wanted to comfort his lover, he couldn’t.
“You’re home quite early; do you want me to re-heat your food?” Chinen asked, he was waiting for an answer but it looked like he wouldn’t be getting any reply from his. “If you want me to re-heat the food, just call out, okay? I’ll be sleeping now,” Chinen said, but as soon as he took the first step in the staircase,
Yamada spoke, “Yuri, let’s do it tonight,”
“Pardon?” was all that Chinen managed to say, “let’s do it, it’s been so long since the last time we did it,” Yamada said, Chinen knew that Yamada’s not in a good state for him to refuse, and he knew that there must have something happened between him and his secret lover, so he just heaved a heavy sigh and gave in.
The both of them drowned in pleasure, every thrust Yamada makes is another dagger pierced right into Chinen’s heart. Chinen was now crying, not because of pleasure, but because of the pain it was bringing him emotionally.
After the both of them reached their climax, Yamada pulled out from Chinen and lay down beside the younger, unconsciously Yamada called out the wrong name numerous times, Chinen heard them, but Yamada was drowned in pleasure to notice that he was calling out the wrong name.
“Daichan, that was amazing,” Yamada said as he faced Yuri who was shocked with what he heard. Yamada panicked for a moment, but before he could say anything Chinen spoke. “It’s okay Ryosuke; I know that he does a better job,”
“No... No! It’s not what you think, he’s nothing,” Yamada said in a panicking voice.
“Ryosuke, stop, I know. Get yourself some sleep, I’ll just take a bath,” Chinen said as he stood up.
Chinen locked the bathroom door behind him; he opened the shower and cried under the pouring water.
The next day, Yamada stayed home. To Yuri’s surprise Yamada was still beside him, sleeping. Chinen woke Yamada up, “Ryosuke, you’re late for work!” but the latter just ignored Chinen’s wake up call. “I’ll stay home today, work was done since last month, I finished them all the work for the next three months,” Ryosuke said as he continued his sleep. Yamada can be really honest when he’s half awake, he accidentally spilled everything. ‘Yamada was lying all this time when he said that he’ll go to work,’ Chinen thought. All he could do was to sigh as he stood up to prepare breakfast.
Later that day, Yamada invited Chinen to eat out for lunch, Chinen gladly agreed since it has been so long since the last time the both of them ate together. It went unexpectedly well. It was a bit awkward, but Chinen didn’t care, he was with Yamada, that’s all it matters.
After lunch, the both of them went to the nearby park to walk around, for Chinen it was just perfect. They were together, there’s nothing else he could ask for. Upon walking, Yamada saw a familiar figure sitting at one of the bench in the park; he ran and left Chinen behind, “Daiki!” Yamada called, forgetting that he was together with Chinen.
“Ryosuke...” Daiki murmured as he went and met with Yamada and hugged him tight. Yamada suddenly kissed Daiki, despite the fact that Chinen was just almost a meter away from them and that they are in a park.
Chinen just looked at the scene before him, “R... Ryosuke...” he called out, but his voice was cracked to be heard. He can feel that tears were welling up, slowly his vision was starting to blur due to the tears that was welling, he wanted to cry right now, right there, but he can’t. He doesn’t want to let Yamada see him cry. He was trying his best to contain his tears, and turn away from the scene, but for some reason he couldn’t. He was frozen.
A familiar hand covered Chinen’s eyes and an arm encircled around his waist, turning him around. “Don’t look, let’s go,” a familiar voice said. “Yuto...”
Yuto took Chinen somewhere far from Yamada and Daiki, “Yuri... what was that?”
“It was nothing... I’m glad your back!” Chinen said trying to shift the direction of their conversation, because he knew how Yuto can be when it comes to him.
“That didn’t look like nothing, Yuri. Was he cheating on you?” Yuto asked his voice was already hinting anger.
“Yuto, please... Stop! Just, stop.” Yuri said as he tried to stop Yuto. “I gave up on you, because you said that he was the one you love and the both of you love each other, if only I knew that he’s only going to cheat on you, I should have stolen you from the very start,” Yuto said. “You know Yuri, my feelings for you never changed, I still love you,” he added.
“Yuto, I love Yama-“Chinen was cut off by Yuto, “You love him, but does he love you? You’re willing to endure the pain but can he do the same for you? Aren’t you tired of chasing after something that you already lost grip on? Yuri, wake up! He’s clearly tired of you. You know, a friend of mine said, that if your lover cheated on you, let him be with the second one, because he won’t be looking for someone if he’s still in love with you.”
Chinen started crying and Yuto just enveloped the small figure with his arms, “He’s not worth it,”
Yuto and Yuri went to the nearest bar to drink, that younger drowned himself in alcohol while crying and endlessly telling Yuto his dilemma. Yuto just let Chinen do what he was doing; he knew that it’s no use. After drinking, Yuto sent Chinen home, Yuto opened the door to Yuri’s home and bid goodbye to the younger. “Call me if anything happens,”
Yuri went upstairs and opened the door to their room, only to see Yamada asleep with another figure, Yuri was trying to fix his vision, it was Daiki and Yamada, and by the looks of it they were both naked under the sheets.
Under the influence of alcohol and Chinen’s broken heart, the latter woke up Yamada. On the other hand, Yamada was surprised to see Chinen, the younger dragged his older lover outside the room to talk, he didn’t care if Yamada was naked, he wanted everything to end. Right here, right now.
“Yuri, this is not what you thi-“Yamada said but was interrupted by Chinen, “Shut up! You’re not going to talk! I’m going to be the one who’s going to do the talking,” Chinen burst, silencing Yamada.
“I’m so sick of your shit! I knew that you’ve been cheating to me for 2 years now, Yamada I am not that dumb! I endured everything because I love you, but love is a fucking fantasy made by people like me, people who just wanted to be happy, but all it brought me was pain and heart aches, and now I’m tired. You’ve been lying to me Yamada, if cheating wasn’t enough for you to hurt me, you’ve added lying to the list, congratulations you’re a fucking douche,” Chinen said, but then his expression changed and said, “Let’s just end this Yamada, I’m tire of making a fool out of myself.”
“This is goodbye,” Chinen said as he pulled Yamada into one last kiss. And went down stairs... his tears were rolling down from his eyes, he dialled Yuto’s number.
“Yuto, let’s run away together,”
"Look Yuri, I love you, I really do, but I don't want to misunderstand anything, I might get my hopes up,"
"Yuto, you're right... I'm tired... I'm tired of always giving a blind eye to Ryosuke's cheating, I'm so sick of always pretending that it's fine, that I'm fine, when in fact it's far away from fine, it has never been. I'm so tired of always crying at night, reflecting on what have I done wrong, where did I lack, I'm so tired of letting my insecurities and anxieties eat me... I'm so ti...red, please Yuto."
"Yuri, did you just realize that when you tell me this, that means I'm not giving you back to Ryosuke?"
