Heh; ultra-conservative is probably the wrong word. He just wishes it were still 1864 or so, before that Meiji emperor got all uppity about his place in things.
Daijiro's got little problem with the modern world in and of itself (though he is a little dismayed by the lack of a code most people live by, a question he's trying to answer for himself - does everyone *have* a code, or just some?) but he generally feels... betrayed? maybe... by such strong reminders of how different the Japanese of today, especially the western ones, are.
What amuses me somewhat is that, from what I've read, he's probably been OK with Seiko in principle - partly due to her heritage, partly due to the fact that she's filling a role in the world that makes sense for that heritage, and partly because she seems to have something she stands for, even if I've not sorted out what that is. :D
Seiko stands for herself and those few others that have gained her loyalty. That's it! No great, high ideal.
What's fun is that she goes out of her way to be unconventional but is very much a traditional japanese woman, she just fights so it doesn't look that way.
Daijiro I'm sure does wish it was 1864, silly Samurai!
Howdy! I don't believe we've met, but I saw this and figured I'd drop you a line. I'm Alex, I'm playing this char Jefferson Zane and he's been in LA from late '84 to present. So it's possible that our chars met. Jefferson is Antonitus' childe, Cynric St. George's grandchilde.

Daijiro strikes me as ultra-conservative so that doesn't surprise me at all.

I don't know how to break it to you, but none of Seiko's kids are conventional.
