I don't actually play with you, but people that play Yamato are rare. My personal interpretation is very different; can I inquire as to what the reasons you have for playing him as you do are?

Certainly can!

I took Yamato in a "This or nothing" situation, the time when Taichi and himself were shot with the arrows. So right now he's under the impression that he was sent here as the "plan" didn't work and he failed his friends, family and his world. So being here, at the age of eleven he's going to naturally withdraw from his securities and be extremely unconfident and depressed. He thinks everyone's dead, and in the end it was his own incompetence in fulfilling this so called destiny, that's weighing him down with an extreme amount of grief.

I chose this significant time to pull him from his canon because of the opportunities that acairnia would offer him. Instead of developing with the aide of Gabumon, he's going to have to reconnect with actual people and develop a self-esteem anew. The reason I didn't take him after the episode, "The crest of friendship" was because of the depth of friendship he acknowledged with Gabumon. Don't get me wrong, Gabumon is credited a lot in helping mold Yamato to the boy he is now (the Yamato I'm ( ... )

Huh. Before I get into my response, allow me to say that I'm not arguing with you; I respect that every person has a slightly different interpretation of characters and this is yours. I'm just sort of passing back my own ideas for a handful of reasons, one of which being the difference between our respective portrayals.

I can certainly understand the depressive reaction to having failed his friends and their destiny, Yamato has always been a rather emotionally unstable character and he's always quick to blame himself for anything that has the slightest chance of being his fault, but I'm a little confused on the vein of his lacking confidence. Stubborn and unwilling to express himself openly as he may be, Yamato is a very confident and hard-headed kid, with a strong sense of justice and a complete inability to be told he's wrong. See also; his regular arguments with Taichi and the fact that he stood as the voice of reason when Taichi's ideas were a little too crazy ( ... )

How did you come across my Yamato anyway? I can explain from my stand point, and I don't take your lengthy reply as an argument at all. Like you've stated yourself, it's interesting to see the different takes on a character. Especially when there's not too many of us around. I can appreciate your depth in the character as well, and under normal circumstances I'd agree with you. However, for this particular roleplay I chose to take him from a serious life altering position ( ... )
