Oh, thank you. This is so wonderful. I always adore it when an author can capture a sense of Tsuzuki's age, how the past simultaneously weighs him down, yet slips away leaving him nothing -- wisps of things once loved that were now too airy to grasp -- I just love that. And the way Tsuzuki watches Hisoka. And Hisoka's nibbling habit. And the recurrent ticking of the clock, the slightly ominous feel of it balanced by the way Tsuzuki understands the need to make the most of what time he has with Hisoka -- there are just so many great details here. Their reactions to faith were so them -- "But that's what faith is..." "Well that's stupid."
*let out loooong breath* I am SO glad you liked it. I was terrified when I finally turned it in. Heh, afraid you wouldn't like it.
This was actually my third attempt at writting it. The first two just... I'm glad I came out with this one.
I've never written Hisoka outside of little drabbles before and I've only written Tsuzuki once through a fic. That little dialogue was the hardest part and you have no idea how relieved I am that you found it in character. *smiles*
There were a lot of moments like that, Tsuzuki realized in retrospect. When he managed to talk Hisoka into watching TV with him, the eternally young male had a tendency to pick at the hem of his shirt when he wanted to sit closer to him but had no excuses to do so. Or when he wanted to snuggle at night (Hisoka refused to refer to it as snuggling), the empath would lay on his back with his hands laced on his chest and pretend to be studying the ceiling. Tsuzuki suspected it was to appear lost in thought but Hisoka subconsciously liked to chew on things when he was thinking that hard.
I absolutely adore it when authors create little quirks in the characters like this. How Hisoka picked at the hem of his shirt, how he liked to chew on pens, etc. It's such a very real concept that is too often ignored in liturature and I love it

Hee, that paragraph was one of my favorites to write! :) I've always wanted to write something like this but never really got around to it. Hoorah for this challenge! *laughs*
It gave the story a lot more depth than it would have had otherwise, and made Hisoka's character seem so solid.
Thank you SO much! That was probably the main thing I was afraid about when I was writing this -- getting Hisoka out of character. Thank you thank you!! I'm glad you liked it..! ^___^
