Yeah, taking pictures probably would not have gone over well. I am glad you found pictures online, though. It sounds very Asian, but at the same time there are the common elements of remembrance and celebrating togetherness of those who remain with a meal.

I bought my tickets for Chicago today! So now I'm all set, flight-wise. I think I need to start a folder of trip-related stuff so I don't lose track of anything....

Interesting to read about a Korean wake. It does sound very formal, though I guess American funerals can be pretty formal too, depending on the family involved.
