He was waiting.
From the moment he was molested awake and kissed his lover goodbye for most of the day without even opening his eyes completely.
Mar tried to go back to sleep after that since it was still early. He rarely got up before eleven on Saturdays unless he had to go to work.
The kitten burried himself in the bunch of covers that still ratiated the other man's heat, but found himself restless and unable to continue dreaming. So he just lay there inhaling the familiar scent.
He had the whole apartment to himslef for the next eleven hours or so. Eleven hours without being disturbed and groped while he worked on schoolwork preparing for tests and the upcoming exams.
Arching his back he stretched as far as he could groaning silently. Ah, much better.
He rolled off from the bed sliding down on the carpet and chuckled at his own antics.
Silly Kitten, he thought as he got on all fours and stretched again - this time much like a cat with his arms far in front of him. Finally Maru got up and marched into the bathroom not caring to take clothes with him since there was no threat of a tiger hunting his towel-clad butt down.
The claret head took a long shower enjoying the hot water streaming down his body to the fullest. He turned the water off after what felt like hours of pure bliss and toweled himself dry. He brushed his hair looking at his reflection in the mirror musing over how long it became. He'd have to get it cut sometime soon.
When Mar emerged from the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his hips, steam followed him into the room. Hm, maybe he overdid it a little with the water temperature.
Opening the wardrobe and a few drawers he pulled out a few random pieces of clothing. He dropped his towel carelessly and pulled on a pair of black boxers followed by baggy jeans that hung low on his hips. He added a black T-shirt to the set and not bothering with socks picked up the wet towel, took it back to the bathroom and went to the kitchen.
Only after he pulled out his huge, yellow cup out of the cabinet he noticed a piece of paper on the table.
Tea won't give you energy to study. Eat some cereal at least!
Be good while I'm gone.
King
Said the note his older lover left him. Bastard knew him too well.
The kitten did as he was told sure that the man would know whether he listened to him or not. It was one of the man's super powers. A really annoying one.
He sat at the kitchen table eating his breakfast slowly his eyes straying towards the piece of paper every few minutes. All of a sudden eleven hours alone weren't as fun as he first thought they'd be.
If he had any apetite before it was all gone now. The claret head played around with his cereal a while longer before putting the spoon away with a sigh. At least he tried.
The young man took his steaming tea to the living-room and put it on the coffe table. Then he brough over his laptop and all the books he'd need and placed them both on the table and on the floor.
Maru looked briefly at the clock hanging on the wall to his left.
11:30
Nine and a half hour before King's return.
Checking mail was first on his to-do list. Deleting spam, replying to his friends' mails, telling his younger brother for the hundredth time that no, he won't do his homework for him. Fun stuff.
Then came looking through the web for materials to help him write his literature assingment. Unfortunately, google didn't offer anything useful this time around. Oh well, he'll manage alone.
Or so he thought, but the only thing he managed to type was the title and his name. After that his mind went blank and refused to connect words into sentences. He just stared at the the white page and struggled with his brain for a long moment.
The kitten closed the file without saving deciding that he still had a week to work on it.
12:43
He took a book about the history of japanese literature, prepared a pencil and his notebook to make notes and started reading. Tried reading. Tried again. Again.
Agrh, dammit! He couldn't focus at all.
So he took another book - this time with a little more success. Textbooks were always more interesting than history. History books always made him sleepy. This time he managed to prepare some materials for studying later on.
14:07
Still a lot of time till King would come home.
Mar finished his tea, made himself another cup and returned to his place on the couch.
Instead of taking a book though he just sat there looking at the brownish liquid in his cup. The room was too silent so he turned on some music. Seo Taiji. He didn't really feel like listening to the guy now so he changed the song. Billy Talent, Three Days Grace, japanese and korean songs, random OST's. He went through all his list but nothing was too his liking at the moment. He closed winamp and once again the silence disturbed only by the tick-tack of the clock attacked his ears.
14:51
Ah damn.
Maru wondered what King was doing at the moment, whether he was his his perverted self, if he was having fun.
He felt lonely.
He tried to take his mind off of it and went back to studying. He went through a few other books without accoplishing anything.
With a sigh the claret head closed the last book and put it on the stack on the floor. The clock read 17:01. Only four hours left.
Or more. King didn't say he'd be back exactly at nine, but around nine.
Four hours and two minutes alone felt so much worse.
It got cold in the room, or maybe it was only him. Nevertheless he took the stack of books from the floor and brough them back to their room as he went to look for something more to wear.
However instead of opening the wardrobe, Mar picked up a royal blue sweater hanging on the back of the chair. He pulled it over his head and almost drowned in it. It was a few sizes too big, his hands gone in the long sleeves, the sweater reaching his mid-thighs.
He grabbed the colar and lifting it up a few centimeters inhaled deeply. Smelled like King.
Maru finally realized that all day long he was in a state of waiting. Waiting for his lover to come back home. Waiting for a touch, a kiss. The sole presence of the man in their apartment was all he needed.
The kitten want back to the living-room and cleaned up his papers, cups and laptop. There was no point in studying when he was this unfocused.
He sat in the huge, leather armchair; his legs hanging over the armrest as curled as much as he could on the piece of furniture. It could swallow him whole and that was one of the reasons Mar liked that armchair so much. It made him feel safe.
He wrapped his arms around himself and just stayed like that listening to the ticking of the clock, counting seconds till his tiger would be back.
He didn't think of anything in particular - he just waited. The whole day was about waiting and now, when instead of doing useless things he devoted himself to waiting alone he finally found a bit of peace. Though the wish to see his lover was eating him.
Maru could send King a message, ask him if he could come back earlier, or simply write some nonsense only to get a reply from the man. But he didn't want to bother him.
He'd wait.
An hour, two passed and the kitten fell asleep in the armchair.
--
Long fingers brushing a few stray strands behind his ear and warmlips touching his temple stirred him awake a few hour later.
He opened his eyes slowly and saw the figure of the man he waited for all day hovering above him.
“Hey.” Mar welcomed his lover in a slightly hoarse voice a soft smile gracing his lips.
“Hey, yourself.” The man answered kissing the younger man. “You'll catch a cold sleeping here, Kitten.”
Instead of answering, the kitten simply reached out his hands for King.
“You're too cute for your own good, Mar.” The white haired man chuckled, but leaned in.
Maru wraped his arms around his lovers neck and waited for King to lift him up. He then wraped his legs around the tiger's waist and clung to him like a baby koala as the man carried him to their bedroom.
The claret head nuzzled King's neck with his cheek. Ah, he was so warm. So much warmer than the sweater.
The older man put him on the bed carefully and Mar unwrapped his legs, but the kitten's arms refused to release the tiger completely making the man support himself by placing his hands on the bed right next to the young male's head.
“Feeling cuddly?” King asked kissing his kitten's forehead and nose laughing softly.
“I just need a blanket.” Maru replied with his eyes closed. It felt so good to have his lover back and this close.
“Is that so?”
Mar felt the bed dipping slightly as the tiger got on it somewhat awkarldy a kitten attached to his neck restricting his moves and all. He secured the claret head in his arms and rolled them on their sides so he wouldn't crush the slighter man.
“Here's a tiger-sized blanket at your service, Kitten.”
Maru planted a soft kiss on his King's lips and almost instantly fell asleep swallowed by his lover's warmth.
