“Okay guys! It’s countdown time! 10...”
“9...” The crowd carried on.
“8...”
The claret head retreated from the living-room into the darkness of the kitchen as their guests continued counting in a loud voice. The sounds coming from the room were a little softer on his ears as he pulled himself up on the counter to look outside the window.
“3...”
“2...”
“1!”
“HAPPY NEW YEAR!” Reverberated through the apartment making Mar wince slightly despite himself.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to celebrate with the rest; he simply needed a moment of peace and in the commotion that started a few seconds ago most probably no one noticed his absence. Well, almost no one.
“There you are.” The white haired man said as he walked into the kitchen. “What are you doing here?”
“Needed a break. Was getting a little to loud for me.” The slighter feline replied smiling softly at his lover as King stood right next to him. “’Sides, I got a nice view on the fireworks from here.” Mar pointed out indicating with his chin towards the window where he could see fire flowers bursting in the night sky illuminating the darkness with colorful sparks of light.
He felt King look at him for a moment before the man grabbed his wrist and pulled him off of the counter where he was perched.
“Wha-?”
“C’mon.” Was the only thing the wildcat said as he tugged Maru out of the kitchen, maneuvered through the group of people in the living-room and crossed the hallway in fast strides. They were out of the apartment and climbing up the stairs in no time and the kitten wondered what his lover was up to this time.
They went a few staircases up until they reached a door that King pushed open for them causing cold, winter air to hit Mar’s face messing up even more his unruly curls. A few steps more and there they were, in the middle of the roof.
Instinctively the claret head grabbed the tiger’s arm clinging to it as heights were not his thing.
“There.” King said though he didn’t point in any particular direction.
Opening eyes that he didn’t realize he closed Mar was greeted with the sight of fireworks exploding just about everywhere. It was a few minutes after midnight already, but it seemed like the citizens were adamant on welcoming the New Year properly.
Albeit reluctantly the kitten released his lover’s arm and took a step forward to turn around and take in as much of the view as possible.
“It’s beautiful!” He called, his eyes still glued to the red, green and blue explosions of light.
He felt King step in closer and wrap his arms around his waist from behind before the man leaned in closer. Mar turned his face just in time to capture those deliciously wicked lips in a kiss.
“Happy New Year, Mar.”
“Happy New Year, Tiger.~” The kitten answered with a smile and leaned back against King’s body placing his arms on his lover’s as he watched the last of the fireworks. “Thank you.”
The tiger rubbed his upper arm with his hand reminding the little feline just how cold it is outside and that he didn’t really get to put even a sweater on before he was hauled outside. He didn’t mind much though, not when his tiger was there next to him.
“We should go back inside. We can’t have you getting sick that soon into New Year.” King murmured into Mar’s ear.
“A few more minutes. It’s really nice out here. So peaceful and quiet. Plus, I have a fire tiger to keep me warm.” Maru answered with a smile turning to kiss the tiger’s jaw.
King replied with a nip to Mar’s ear.
“You know, next year instead of having a party let’s spend the day in bed. So we can welcome New Year with a bang.~”
Mar’s only answer was to laugh and proceed to shut his lover up with a kiss. His tiger was such a sex fiend. But he wouldn’t have in any other way.
