This was very well done, it did not read like a 4th grader wrote it (in a good way).
The only colour charts I had heard of previously go both ways but I think it's the other way around. Start the day on green, neutral. Bad behaviour moves you down -- yellow, orange, red -- but in the same way, good behaviour, kindness or excellence in your work gives you the option to move up, too -- blue, purple, etc. And good behaviour can move you out of orange or yellow too. Seems a bit unfair to me that you can only go down and not up!

For some reason, the chart in first grade allowed for no improvement. If you received a strike, it was there for the rest of the day, no take backs. It was utterly infuriating because the classmates became conditioned to believe they were bad students based on behavior. The city PBIS board (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) has stated that these charts are not at all helpful in building a good classroom. Yet, the first grade teachers are still using those charts in 2019.
In fourth grade, they have a chart somewhat similar to what you mention this year, with the ability to move up or down. It's not really for behavior though, it's more for academic achievement, and it resets weekly.

This is true!
I love that you take us through your school years as you progress and mature and things get more complicated.
Well done!
