It's taken until this week's ep, but I now categorically love this show. I love everything that Hayley Atwell does. I love everything that James D'Arcy does. Jarvis is such an utterly perfect character that I'm not even feeling the lack of Howard Stark (who does entirely charm me.)
With a worse script and a less appealing performance Jarvis could easily have been a terrible joke of a character. As it is, he works perfectly. I love his sort of steely domesticity. The interrogation scene was wonderfully tense. I kind of wish that they'd left the revelation of the reason for his treason charge a little longer (sudden thought: was that a lie? Was it a little too obviously played to make him sympathetic?) so Peggy could have had a longer moment of doubt, but I appreciate that they only have eight episodes and a lot to fit in.
The series being as short as it is, it's note-worthy that they're taking their time to deepen Peggy and Angie's friendship. They're so cute together! ♥♥♥
Even having said that I'm not missing Howard, I did love the about five minutes of screen time he had in episode one. The Starks, man!
