inclusive sunday

Apr 06, 2008 08:52

I posted a Question about religion (specifically christianity) in thequestionclub and I got some interesting responses. Feel free to post there if the question pertains to you.

I have a separate question for you: How do you spend your sunday mornings?

So I didn't really want to join the community. Here's my answer to the question club question ( ... )

so if you think that jesus/the crufixion is incidental to your theology, does that make you jewish?

No no, the point of it is, it's not incidental to Christian theology. It is incidental to me, which means I'm not a Christian.

I wish I was a Jew, man. Latkes for DAYS!

This morning I'm listening to my roommate try to form large "loogies" in the bathroom while I try to get motivated to get dressed/take a shower/get some food/read Hegel.

Most Sundays Devon and I are together and do not much of anything till noon, when we usually go out for some food and then try to get schoolwork stuff done.

I've been thinking it'd be nice, if I were someplace where I had more friends in close physical proximity, to have a Sunday morning ritual of sorts. Get coffee and waffles with some set of people or have a group of us who rotate hosting a breakfast. I crave community.

community is awesome. I think you might like denver. It has a decent little arts scene.

sometimes I wish I could believe in God. I don't feel like I need it to be a nice person, but instead to feel like life is meaningful. this really bothers me sometimes.

most Sunday mornings I just sleep.

would you believe in a mean god, like the old greek gods, who were petty and selfish?

hooray for sleep! high-five! (zzzz.)

from what I've read of the Bible, the Christian God ain't that great either.

Usually I spend Sunday mornings hungover and wishing I could get back to sleep.

Sleeping in until it becomes p.m. The one morning of the week that I can truly sleep in.
