I always found it confusing, and also: There was a recent episode where Adama starts talking about childhood memories of foxes near his home. So:somewhere on the other end of the galaxy, there's another planet where a species evolved to look just foxes? And they are called "foxes"? I guess it's one of those things, like everyone speaking English in Star Wars, that you just have to live with.

yeah, the show requires a more conventional suspension of disbelief than most stuff i tend to like personally (post buffy/angel anyway), but it still has its moments.
