zinke Ten years ago today, The West Wing premiered on NBC. In memory of this amazing show, post a comment including your favorite quote from the series and let the nostalgia flow.
I actually watched the series premiere, which I almost never do, and at the end, my mom and I made a note to try and watch the series.
I think this was my first "Oh!" moment:
Mary Marsh: You people...that New York sense of humour, it always--
Rev Caldwell: Mary, there's absolutely no need--
Mary Marsh: Please, Reverend, they think it's smart--smart talk--but nobody else does.
Josh: I'm actually from Connecticut.
Toby: Yeah, but she meant Jewish.
Awesome.
I won't get into Sorkin's extraordinary fumble about hard-core Christians not knowing the First Commandment, because you know what? The scene flowed so well, and that was all down to the acting and direction. It wasn't until much later that I had my eyeroll moment and even later that I started wishing the first two seasons had just never ended.
Plus Bartlet comes in right after and sets them straight, and then goes and nails a pro-choice banner over the show, and all of that's kind of awesome.
So. TWW. My first non-SF fandom. ::pets::
