My Blog

My company has a blog site for engineers which is about 2 years old. One of my new jobs as an engineer is to read, comment, and make blog entries. I get to spend an hour or two each day doing just this. My blog is about DIY type projects others and I have done. So far I have posted four entries which covers just two projects I have done, although I ( Read more... )

please don't post anything that could be incriminating b/c all of that stuff could easily leak out of "friends only" mode. :)
p.s. the party was fun

That's my concern also, I do think it would be cool to be able to share the videos with the right people if it could be secure. Perhaps I can just post clips of non incriminating stuff as friends only.

Not only am I searching for jobs and stuff which would make anything even remotely incriminating BAD to be on the 'net, but I detest myself on video, and would just be kind of mortified if I were to be there on anything public. So please just x me out of anything. Nothing personal, I love remembering good times as much as anyone. But I don't want myself on video, just in general. Thanks Dan! *hugs*

I would also warn about posting anything even remotely incriminating. With the way things from the internet seem to always "leak out" regardless of where they are no private mode is completely private.

I don't know if anyone who was there has to go through the federal background ckecks that I do, but you'd be surprised what some really thorough background checks come up with. (And a certain percentage of RPI students/former students/grads) apply to higher government jobs each year.

Just food for thought.

I won't post any video anywhere for anyone in any way then. There are plenty of clips with people just talking or dancing and nothing else. I was just going through some of the video while searching for an unrelated video for my blog. Our group seems to have gone its ways over the years. It was very nostalgic to see everyone having a good time, it reminded me how it all got started and what it was all about. I believe there are video that none of you have ever seen. I wanted to figure out an easy way to share that with everyone. I guess the real world intervenes once again.

If you want to share the videos with all of us why not burn them to cd and mail them?

That takes a lot more work to do, but it is a possibility. I think it still shares some risk of becoming public since anyone who has the cd could post it anywhere. Youtube just seemed like an easy way to share it with the group. I would cut the bad bits, I think currently there are prob public pictures online showing worse stuff then the video I was going to post as friends only. I think the way youtube does it, I need to send out an email invite for you to be able to view it. If everyone is paranoid about the video however, then I don't have to put in any effort to do nothing and it makes everyone happy.
