I remember when I lived in Japan and had to commute to school, I would sleep on the subway :D

That's exactly how I taught myself Chinese. I loaded up my iPod with Pimsleur Mandarin I, II, and III and just tried to speak quietly into my hand so I wouldn't disturb anyone else on the train.

Weeelllll, the German MP3s I've mentioned before is Pimsleur too!

The difference is I'll be on a bus, not a train. And buses are noisy, at least in China. People disturbing isn't exactly on my mind, I'm wondering if I can heard the MP3 in all that noise!
