It's this term "If the sky pours boiling oil" that I found interesting. For its meaning, we Chinese normally say "就算天上下刀子" (Even if the sky rains knives). Here the word 下 means "rain". It has the meaning in 下雨.
Can't say which one I prefer. I certainly don't hope either occured at my wedding day!
