Dunno if anyone else out there has or is reading this series, but they're fairly captivating!

The books are swift reads since most of it is dialogue, and they're geared toward "young adult."  But for the most part, they read smoothly in first person.  I'm not sure you ever really get an in-depth feel on the character evaluation, but since there's ( Read more... )

I've heard of the book via the ljsecret community; it seems to have an infatuation-hate relation with the angsty/emo teens there. Vaguely interested; I'm wary that it's just the new Anne Rice for them.

Nah. Not descriptive enough to be Anne Rice. Not angsty enough to feel like anything other than possible superficial emo. It reads like Tamora Pierce. Still, if I'm looking for depth, I'll read Lao Tzu. :-)

(Just finished the second book, btw.)
