No work today

A small plane crashed on takeoff out of PAO this morning took out power for all of Palo Alto. my company is entirely shut down, can't get in the buildings, can't get to email, can't get to anything. There's a little bit of work I can get accomplished with a pencil and paper, but I can't even call my boss because I don't have his number in my ( Read more... )

Geeze. Santa Clara (where I work) is fine, tho the power is off at our house. I sure hope it's back up tonight.

When I went in this morning, there were trucks in the parking lot and lots of guys ferrying all the refrigerated items out of our cafeteria and kitchenettes out to them. The estimate I heard was 20-24 hours before power is back on. I think a lot of people will be buying new milk tomorrow.

A distributed generation power grid cannot come too quickly.

My company did not lose power, but out ISP is in PA, so we lost our Internet connection. Me, I've been coughing for two weeks so I was working from home anyhow, and I wasn't bothered.
