marriage anyone?

Let me put a disclaimer on this entry first: I am not judging anyone on their choices. I am not against marriage. I am just voicing some opinions and concerns I have been having recently especially since so many of my friends are engaged or already married.

I so agree with you on this! I've also started to see some of my friends get engaged and married. Among my friends, it's mainly been the ones who needed a partner's income, or emotional support, (or, in one friend's case, help with raising a baby) who have taken this step so young. I'm not anti-marriage at all, heck, I hope to get married one day. But I think it's a terrible idea to marry so young, when a woman hardly knows herself at all. I know the cost of living is high. I live in a place where, even, with a roommate, I can't afford half the rent on a 600 square foot apartment without my parents help. But parents are precisely the people who should be helping and advising a young woman when she is 22. It's cool and all to be independent, but how cool is it to get a divorce when you're 24? Studies have shown that a marriage is most likely to last when the woman already has her degree, and is over the age of 30. It may not be neccessary to wait that quite that long, but why not wait at least until you have a few years of career ( ... )
