I've read 28, but some of them I have to catch myself on. For example, in my Stanley Kubrick film class we discussed Lolita intensively, and though I've never read it I feel like I have so I have to be strict with myself. I've also only read the golden compass so I couldn't count the whole dark materials listing ( ... )

Also, I think Captain Corelli's Mandolin is a WW2 flick with Cher in it. Possesion is AS Byatt's big book. I read some of the stories from her "Little dark book" or whatever it's called and she's so bitterly atheistic it really turned my stomach how she tried to push it in every story no matter whether it mattered or not. EVERY STORY was about how the characters are facing struggles but at least they're cool because they all realize how dumb believing in God is and they RELISH their disdain, and it really sucks because some of the concepts are really cool.

AND WAR AND PEACE SHOULD COUNT AS FIVE BOOKS.
