Some kind of masochist

So I've started my close(r) reading of Twilight, and forthis reason I have decided that I'm some kind of masochist for doing this. It's honestly painful to read. The language, the characterizations, the general crap of the whole thing...

Hmm . . . you make a good argument. I recall fics I've read that were things like a school assignment written by a six-year-old and they felt off because there weren't any errors.

However, this only excuses her writing style -- the plot is still gagworthy.

The problem is that she took a good formula (people in love who can't be together because of family/nationality/other circumstances) and ruined it with her shitty writing and fake vampires and characters you don't care about. There have been good stories written with that formula. Twilight is not one of them. In and of itself the formula is, yes, less than original.
