So you're probably read the story already (if you haven't, why? go do so.)
This is what I imagined Dean's tattoos to be (and cleflink didn't say no to my crazy mix <3 )
The tattoos are a mix of some Native American and Celtic styles/symbols. (please understand that there was no disrespect intended to neither cultures).
First of I took one of the Native American simbols for the Sun. I liked this design. The sun rays going of in the four directions also have exstra meaning, as far as I understand. Four lines that point in four directions, each line represents one season (spring, summer,...), represents one element (earth, fire,...), represents one direction (east, west,...) and there was one more meaning but for the life of me I can't find the site I read it again.
In the middle of the sun symbol I put the Celtic shield knot. They can come in interesting designs. :)
Also atached to the Sun symbol you can see a kinda Celtic style wings. They are the upper part of butterfly wings. Butterflies in Celtic symbolism in essence mean transformation and since Dean needed to transform I figured why not. (how much do you think Dean would like to kill me for doing that? :D)
And at the back of Dean's neck are two arrows pointing to one another and a dot in the middle. That's a Native American symbol for protection, especially against evil spirits. Or "warding off evil spirits".
And lastly I have a baby Cherufe for you. The monster of the story. (once he grows up)
