Some Halo snippet that's been kicking around on my Google Drive. It was meant to be a bigger fic, but that's just not happening.

It was meant to be a bigger fic, but that's just not happening.

But whyyy not? It's perfect and it just works and there just isn't enough fic like that in the fandom :( (actually, there's not much fic in the fandom, period but there's practically nothing like this!). More, please?

Because Palmer is hard to write? I'm constantly either having to hold back her brashness or put in more because she's a difficult character for me to grasp. I like writing my characters emotionally stunted -- the Chief, Bruce Wayne, John Sheppard, etc.

Also, I have no idea where I'd go from here. I think it was going to be a tie-in to the Halo Xbox One game trailer -- the intel that John received had information about Cortana on it and Osman sends him on a mission to terminate her program because "she's not the AI you knew. She's been corrupted by the Domain." Cue angst, character growth, blah blah blah...

I'd have no problem writing a gen fic where John joins Palmer (and the Spartan-IVs) on some kind of adventure, but my mind draws a blank when it comes to an actually plot line. :P

Because Palmer is hard to write?

Funny, I'm finding her really easy to write. I think I'd totally blank at John's POV, though :D

I'm constantly either having to hold back her brashness or put in more because she's a difficult character for me to grasp.

That's what makes her so easy to write for me, probably because I'd been writing Laura Cadman for ages before I started writing Palmer. And, possibly, maybe, because I'm usually not a very reserved person myself. It's easy to write characters like Palmer because I tend to explode too easily myself :D

the intel that John received had information about Cortana on it and Osman sends him on a mission to terminate her programHow are they going to get out of that? O_o I guess I'll have to reconsider my head canon, since I always thought that Palmer was one of Osman's creatures. Not willingly (because she doesn't seem like the person who'd easily tolerate being made into anyone's tool of destruction) but being pressured (or possibly more like manipulated) into doing what Osman needs her to ( ... )
