I've fought against people believing that the devil was real for a long time. I hate exorcisms and that kind of idea. Demons are fake. There is no magic, there is no evil power and there is only goodness and absence of goodness, not some polar evil

Yeah, just the idea of demonic possession, exorcisms, etc., is so stupid. People talk as if the devil were perched on their shoulder like a little bird or something, whispering temptations into their ear. He's a scapegoat. The idea of him was probably created in man's attempt to paint the universe black and white, good and evil. Apparently they think God needs a purely evil enemy with whom to be polar opposites. Because there's a heaven, there needs to be a hell, right?

Many religions have polar opposites of Good and Evil, but the Bible doesn't give the devil any true power and Boethius, who started the idea of there only being Good in the world was the one who held the whole notion of what was Good and Evil in the Church for a long time.

I blame Puritans for it all.
