Dude, if you've got leather in need of TLC, Obenauf's Heavy Duty is absolutely frickin' amazing. It's so safe you rub it in manually (the warmth helps it work,) and does very good things for my favorite hiking boots (and during the winter, my hands.) Little goes a very long way ( Read more... )

I like lavender essential oil. I've used it as an anti-fungal and antiseptic as well as a fragrance. The plant itself, doesn't grow too much around here. A friend brought back a bunch in a zip lock from Cali and it perfumed my mom's car for a while.

The two movies which scared the living daylights out of me were "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" with Gene Wilder. The Oompa Loompas had me hiding under the chair. And "Watership Down" The Black Rabbit and Fiver's visions scared me, especially when the parking garage after the movie had a dog barking echoing through it. Brrr.

Amusingly, I loved both books. I don't think I've ever seen Little Nemo's Adventures" as a movie, but I have a coffee table book of old newspaper comics and that is one of the classics.

I've never seen Little Nemo, but I read one of the books, I think. One of my LJFriends' username is, as I understand it, because she likes Little Nemo so much.

I like lavendar. I don't think I have any strong associations, though.

I have eaten orchids and organic roses. The orchids were much better.

I tried the lavender flavored gelato they had at the mall once. Way too perfumey for my taste. Same goes with Rose-flavored Turkish delights. Can't get over the idea that I'm eating something that should contain methylated alcohol.

It's funny you should mention syncopation. I was just remembering how insanely difficult it was for me to clap in time to the songs during my 2 days of capoiera, so I tried writing the rhythms out as notes. The complicated part is deciding what to do with diphthongs like "sai" - do you give it one beat, or two? I was trying to clap it out again and I failed epically. That of course, got me that much further from actually doing my Gothic and Middle High German homework.

I know one movie that scared the crap out of me that I loved anyway was the Neverending Story. That bit with the wolf was crucial.

I adore Neverending Story! The wolf still scares me.

I'm blanking on the name right now, but when I was little that movie where the kid is running (well, riding his bike) from some bullies and hides in a library and gets sucked into the books around him, having to travel through this animated book land to get back home, terrified me. I've watched it once since then, and it wasn't as scary as I expected, but I've never gotten over that association ( ... )

qotd: I like the smell of lavendar, but without any particular associations with the smell. When I recognize it as lavender, I often think of my friend in TN who's allergic to it.

qotd2: I love the idea although I can't think of an instance of eating flowers. I've drunk several in tea, though. And one of these days I'll actually suck up the cost and try a blooming tea.

Zills are totally cool. That sounds like a very good compromise :)
