I'm at UW and it's amazing so far! But, I am just doing winter and spring quarter here for sure. Then, depending on how I feel and whether I get in, I could theoretically go to UChicago divinity school, do an MA at Hebrew Universtity in Jerusalem or study Hebrew in scotland (hehe). Or do a fulbright. But who knows? Anyway, since someone actually cares about Jewish Law etc., I can update a bit more about the awesome things we're studying. Like, for example, right now I am writing a paper on the struggle between pedaic societies like Hasidic groups and their governments to do things like have their own schools. Yay!!,
wow! wanna come back to israel and study? (why scotland? by the way there's a scottish boy here who's on the conversion tract of this program; he's becoming orthodox i think). What you mentioned sounds like some of what we talk about in the minimal classes i'm taking; I have trouble following the conversations here because each class is only an hour once a week so they fly through things, but i live amidst what you're studying so if you ever feel like recapping it or talking about it, i'd love to hear more :)
I absolutely want to come back to Israel to study. It makes sense that the Scottish kid is having an Orthodox conversion; that's the only kind you can have in Israel and have it "count." I applied to St. Andrews' because i love it there :)
