Vikings 1-2, a VDSC

Petter's Notebook
Oh hi, I'm Petter. I'm finally old enough to cook my own food. I DON'T LIKE grilled cheese and I'm SO sick of it. Mom never makes anything else.

I do like being outside, though. Mom and Dad found all sorts of new things to decorate our outside area.

And new plants too. In the spring they attract lots of butterflies, which is great for my bug collection!

Out there, by those rocks, is a GREAT place to find some beetles and butterflies. And if you sit on top of the rocks and reach down real quick, they don't even notice you coming.

My little sister kept bugging me to show her how to fish, so I finally did. She's not that bad, she caught a really big fish the other day!! Catching fish is really great, cuz then I can cook it up to eat and have something besides grilled cheese.

This morning on my way to school, I found this bug!! But I was already late and didn't have my jar with me. I really hoped they'd still be there afterschool, so I could add it to my collection.

But I didn't even get a chance to look because Mom and Dad were feeling so awful that I had to do a bunch of chores.

I tried to cheer them up by joining them for dinner. And I think it made Mom happy! (I didn't eat my sandwich, I just pretended. Shh! Don't tell!)

Mom still hasn't sorted out this problem. Not that it mattered, since Lisbet is too big for that highchair now.

Repo! The Genetic Opera:
Pay no bills for the entirety of the week. Say hello to the Repo man!
[an encore performance, it's now the end of the week and time to roll for a new challenge!]

But then something even bigger happened. (And nothing ever happens here in the desert, this is REALLY BIG.) We all heard the plane overhead, it was flying low and smoking out the back. I'm pretty sure planes aren't supposed to do that. Then there was a loud BOOM! Mom read in the newsletter that a rescue team went out from our little community, but they just found a bunch of pieces of broken plane. And three babies. BABIES. I just can't believe it, a hundred kids and grownups on a plane all die in a crash, but three little babies survive. Mom's right, this is a strange desert.

Mom and Dad spent a lot of time talking quietly together and making phone calls. I know they were checking about the babies because the next morning at breakfast they announced that the little babies were coming to live with us - ALL OF THEM - and was that okay with us?

It wasn't.

But I didn't really have a choice, they'd already made up their mind.

The ‘Angelina’ Challenge:
adopt three toddlers in a row. If you don’t have enough money to adopt, save up until you do. If you don't have enough room in your household, move some people out.* Once the adopting starts, it has to be three in a row. None of these children are eligible for heir.

Mom looked different at dinner. She said she wasn't eating enough grilled cheese and the plane tragedy gave her grey hair. Maybe so.

I spent a long time this evening looking through the telescope. I recognized a few stars, but I really wish I knew what else was up there.

Sometimes I think I see shooting stars. Definitely not airplanes. I know what those look like, much slower and usually they have blinking lights on them. Unless of course they're about to crash in my desert.

There aren't many people out here in the desert, and sometimes Lisbet is the only person to talk to. I can't believe it, but today I played dollhouse with her. WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO??

[by trappingit]

When I got home from school, one of the little babies was there. For some reason he kept following me around and reaching for me.

When I ignored him he cried. I knew this was trouble.

So I played a little game with him and hoped that he would leave me alone. I had a lot of homework to do, and I found a book about stars that I really wanted to read.

And then when Lisbet got home I realized SHE could play with the babies too. Guess she's not so bad.

Lisbet's Notebook
Just wanted to say, Hooray!! I've grown up and now I get to go to school with Petter!! Gotta run!

The second baby came today, another little boy. It seems like they're already friends, they're so cute when they play together!

Petter keeps saying that he doesn't like them, that they're annoying and loud and stinky. But today I saw him helping Yulian with the potty! I told Mom about it while we ate our bedtime snack (grilled cheese of course!) and she seemed relieved. I think the babies are a lot more work than she thought they would be. And there's another one coming tomorrow!

The babies were all asleep when I got home, including the new one that came today. Mom said it's a little girl named Piper and she has purple hair. Purple hair?!

But Mom said she's really cute! I wanted to go see her, but Mom said to let them sleep and she'll wake up soon enough.

__________________

Piper is so cute! I love the way her big green eyes look up at me. I wonder if she'll be happy here, with me as a big sister? I've always wanted a little sister, so I hope she'll be happy. I hope we can be best friends.

She's still so little though. Dad says there are a lot of things I can teach her. I watched him play with Yulian outside, holding his hands and helping him walk instead of crawl. I tried it with Piper and it worked! She's still not very good at it, but she's littler than the boys. We'll keep working on it.

Dad brought us a present, some paints to use with the easel! He said one of his friends found them. Some of them are mostly empty, but when I squeezed them real tight a little paint came out. There was a lot of red and yellow, which just made me think of cheese.

I wasn't sure what I would paint when I started, I just thought about cheese and delicious things and kept painting.

The picture turned out okay, mostly just lots of colors jumbled on the canvas. Maybe I can try again, but I'll have to wait until we find more paint. Or maybe Mom will order some for me in the mail?

Wow, it's been awhile since I've written anything! The babies aren't really babies anymore. Yulian and Herod grew up and it's almost Piper's birthday too. I can't wait to play more games with them and teach them all about fishing and sandcastles and grilled cheese sandwiches!

Yulian really likes Petter. Tonight I heard Petter "reading" him a story. It was the most silly thing I've ever heard, something about talking race cars in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. He must have been making it up.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Petter's Notebook
They've done it again. Seriously, I don't even understand it. I woke up this morning and went into the bathroom to pee, and the light wouldn't turn on. I flipped the switch a few times, but nothing happened. Mom came out of her bedroom and asked me what was wrong and why was I yelling. I told her I couldn't see anything and the lights weren't working. And she said it was ON PURPOSE! WHAT ARE THEY THINKING???
Apparently she and Dad had a conversation and they decided to shut off our electricity,take out one of our bathrooms, and get rid of our record player. Does she know how long I've been looking for a record player?!?!? And how much time I spent making it work after I found it at the dump? AAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Quit all jobs, and live off of the land for the week.
She calls it "going back to basics." I call it awful.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lisbet's Notebook
Piper slept right through her birthday tonight. Everyone else had gone to bed and I was sitting in the dark kitchen all by myself when she came toddling out. She must have been looking for me. She walked right over to me and looked at me like she wanted to ask me something.

But her body chose just that time to grow up! I feel kind of bad, but I'm so tired that I just congratulated her and came back to the bedroom to go to bed.

Yulian was still up though, and he said he'd sit with her in the kitchen. I was surprised, that was really nice of him.

Not having lights makes staying up a lot less fun. It's hard to paint or read when I can't see what's in front of me :( And I hate waiting outside the bathroom when I need to pee. There is ALWAYS someone in there, usually someone taking a really long bubble bath. Mom says in a few days we can try to find the pieces for a second bathroom. I just don't understand why we had to get rid of all of it in the first place!! I think it was supposed to be some sort of lesson or important experience, but what am I going to learn when I always have to pee?

__________________

Mom didn't make grilled cheese this morning!! She said it was because we don't have any cheese :((( And we can't even call to order more, because we don't have a phone!! I think I'm going to cry.

Mom looked pretty unhappy too, actually. I found her outside,digging around in the dirt and mumbling something about secrets and cheese. She was planting some seeds ... does she think we're going to GROW CHEESE? I don't understand why she's so into this, she keeps saying that we're going "back to basics" or that we're being a "real" family and taking care of ourselves. Why can't we just get a phone and make a call? That's all it takes!! Dad knows someone with a plane that can fly in some cheese!! What's suddenly wrong with that?

At least Piper isn't upset with me. We're closer than ever now that she can talk more clearly and can play more games. She asked me to read her a story the other day, and I read one of my favorites, "The Princess and the Shooting Star."

Now that she's going to school, she has homework like the rest of us. Herod and Yulian don't really need help with their homework, well, I mean, Herod doesn't. Herod gets his done faster than anyone, he's really a smart kid. Yulian is the opposite, but he won't let any of us help him with it.

Piper seems to be doing okay, but I try to work close by so that if she has a problem I can help her out.

__________________

It has been SO HOT recently. We all had a big waterballoon fight afterschool today, even Yulian joined us.

But he didn't like it. He cried about it all night - how the water was too cold and we were so mean to knock him over.

I tried to cheer him up by playing a friendly game with him, but he refused. He was like, "ahh, no, I don't want to." I went to go wait in line for the bathroom, and I could hear him back in the living room - crying. It makes me feel so bad, but I don't understand why he's so unhappy. I'm trying to be friendly with him but he's just a big grump!

Piper and Herod are a whole lot more fun to play with, they actually want to dance around and be silly with me!

I wonder if they know what's eating Yulian? (It's definitely NOT cheese. I can't wait until we can order more.)

Hooray it's the weekend!! School is great and all, but I like staying home all day and playing with all the kids. Today I decided we'd have a sandcastle contest. Mom said she and Dad would be the judges when we were finished. Piper, Herod, Yulian, and I all chose a spot and started digging, piling, and patting the sand.

I'm really glad Yulian decided to play. He was actually so excited to start that he didn't even change out of his pajamas!

Piper was really careful, I think I saw her trying to draw patterns in the sand with her fingers.

Herod got lucky and found a shovel somewhere, I think Mom had saved it from when Petter and I were little.

When we were all finished we sat by our castles and Mom and Dad walked by, whispering and pointing.

Herod won, even though I think my castle was better. I mean, I had taller towers and a wall around the castle! But Herod's castle was really good and it's better that one of the kids won than me. I'm the big sister, I can take it.

Besides, guess what happened? I think Yulian and I are finally friends, because he did the silly dance with me!!

Petter's Notebook::
Another really hot day in the desert. We were all laying around in the yard this afternoon, enjoying the sun and the occassional breeze when I felt the birthday tingle.

I feel about the same though, not much changed.

But Lisbet spent so much time laying in the sun that she is SO BURNT. She keeps wincing and her face is all red. Unlucky her.

A little dog wandered by the house today and she looked kind of lonely. Or at least she looked as lonely as me, so I tossed a stick around for her. I have never seen a dog that loved fetching a stick as much as she does!

The stick is as long as she is, but she always managed to carry it back to me to throw again.

I wonder if she's a puppy? She's really small. I hope she sticks around, I like having a little friend.

So, just to summarize, Mom got over her "back to basics" kick, Yulian had a birthday

[dont' forget, Yulian's awesomeness is thanks to: trappingit!]

And Mom had a bunch of pajamas shipped in from who knows where and she's wearing different ones every day. The other day she wore this yellow and black striped pajama dress. I told her I should pin her into my bug collection with the wasps and butterflies. I thought it was funny, but she didn't.

Fashion is Life!
Your current heir buys enough clothes to have a completely different outfit and look for each day of the week. Make sure you take an "outfit for the day" screenshot.

But, I digress. Herod grew up.

[Herod's fabulousness is thanks to: bondchick_nett!]

And Dad got a lot of grey hairs almost overnight. Between that and Mom's pajama-of-the-day, the house feels different. Almost antsy, like something big is about to happen. Wierd.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lisbet's Notebook::
Herod let me in on a secret today.
HE LOVES GRILLED CHEESE!! Whooooa, we totally talked about dripping cheese and the perfect toasted bread for like 40 minutes!
I suddenly felt so much closer to him
but that was a little bit weird. He's like a brother, a CHEESE brother.
Now he joins me and Mom at the grilled cheese snack table. The more the merrier, as Mom always says.
Oh, and Piper had another birthday!
This morning she told me she dreamt about kissing a boy and that she wished it was true! Then she asked me if I've ever kissed a boy and I laughed. I don't care about boys, just cheese!! But I think she'll get her wish.
[and of course, thank you to needlecream for the lovely Piper!]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Petter's Notebook
I went with Dad to the park today and met a few of his friends.

[Mattias, from bondchick_nett]

Honestly, I think he's trying to hook me up and get me a wife! But nobody really stood out to me.

[on the far left, with his back to us, is Olaf, from pinkposeysims!]

I went back out later with Lisbet though, and met this girl named Prudence. She's cute, and she laughed at all my jokes.

[Prudence, from bondchick_net]

I heard Lisbet talking to someone about grilled cheese. GRILLED CHEESE! The guy didn't sound happy and I couldn't blame him. Not everyone likes grilled cheese, can't you talk about something else?

[Curtis, from simmericangirl

But she didn't, so I thought maybe we should leave before he got crazy. Prudence gave me her phone number before we left, she said she said to call with my next joke!

I couldn't sleep last night.

But I wish I had. I feel like the telescope betrayed me, the stars betrayed me, my desert betrayed me.

Coming back was the worst part though. Most awkward landing ever, and Mom and Dad saw the whole thing. I think I've got a permanent crick in my neck. Ouch.

Mom and Dad were full of questions - where did I go? what was that flying thing? was i okay?

My butt tickled and I had no answers. So I went to give Scout a bath. I need to think.

It's definitely different now.
