[I took last week off from posting, as life sort of exploded in exciting, but unexpected ways. Summer school is kickin' my butt (it always does), but on with the posting!! This is already week 8 of my challenge and I'm still posting gen 3! AHHH! I was plugging along so nicely until I got wrapped up in the side stories :) We'll see if I make it to gen 5 by week 10! (Though I'm beginning to doubt myself.) I'm curious ... when are the rest of you VDSC-ers considering your challenge completed - gen 5 born? gen 5 adult?
Anyways ... on with the story...]

The herd of elephants in and around their house attracted a lot of attention. In fact, when it came time for the youngest child's birthday, there was quite a crowd gathered to celebrate with him.

The very next day the two sons went into town to visit the junkyard.
The elder one reasoned that there had to be some sort of vehicle they could fix up to go looking for their siblings.
They were wrong, there were no cars or trucks, not even broken down ones. There weren't even any bicycles!
"Now what?" they asked eachother.
They ate in silence for several minutes until it suddenly dawned on them - why not drive out of town with the trucks that were already coming and going regularly? The produce trucks!! Maybe they were traveling in their direction!
Homework Intermission.
/Intermission
Convincing the produce seller was the next task, and it wasn't easy.
They turned up the charm and eventually he agreed to drop them off at a small town on the other side of the mountains. He'd bring them back the next time he came through with his produce. That would give them at least a few days to ask around, to find out if any of the locals had seen their siblings.
They left that night at dark.
The sons couldn't be sure whether the letter had originated in this forest town, or if it had simply traveled through here. But they were confident they would find SOME clue here.
After the first few hours they compared notes. Nothing.
The next day they jumped right in, talking with people at the groccery store, the park...
...and even spent the afternoon grilling hotdogs with them trying to gather clues. A few locals mentioned a story told to scare children -- of a large hairy man who live deep in the forest. He came and stole naughty children from their beds, but no one knew what he did with them after that.
Hopeful, the sons set out late in the afternoon in the direction indicated by the locals.
They found the man, but no children.
Discouraged, they left the mountain town the next morning with no more information than they had before. Back at home, they found that life life continued on as normal.
Or, at least as normal as could be with a herd of elephants around.

And like normal, they clues were few and far between.
Finally, they stumbled upon one last clue - the plants in the pictures Dandelion had sent were very similar to plants on an island off the coast. If they could figure out how to get there, perhaps they'd be able to find the place where the pictures were taken. Not many people lived on the island, but maybe, just maybe, Dandelion and Marigold were hidden there.
Yes, hidden, the sons now felt that their siblings were purposefully being hidden from them. After all these years and only one letter?
It was time to ask a favor. Remembering that their father's adopted brother Yulian had military connections, the younger son went looking for him.
He found Yulian, and an agreement was reached, but that was not all.
The son and his wife stopped by the pool to say hello to a few friends before going back to their house when he saw someone that looked strangely familiar.
His heart beating quickly, the son walked up to him and asked, "Excuse me, is your name Dande...Daniel?"
"Yes...and you are...?"
In shock, the son pulled out the photographs he always carried with him. "Is this you?" He asked, hardly daring to believe it could be.
"YES!"
"I am your brother, Aloe, and we have been looking for you for years, we searched on the other side of the mountians, we were going to fly to a coastal island, and instead I find you at the pool!"
"What? You mean ... you live here?"
"Well not here, but very nearby."
"I never knew..."
The brothers talked for a long time, eagerly answering eachother's questions and trying to piece together the mystery of their seperation.
It was actually pretty clear once Dan explained that he and his sister never left their house, and it was protected on all sides by a very large fence. Just why they never left the house and who had hidden them there all these years was not clear to Aloe, but he forgot all his questions when he saw who was standing behind Dan.
Dan quickly introduced them, "Mari, this is our brother Aloe." But really, introductions were unnecessary. He recognized his sister right away, and she recognized him.
"It's good to see you brother. Somehow I never expected this day to come! But please, let me introduce you...
Quinton Tregetour, my love and my companion. And Rémy Marius, our son."

Of course, once the elder brother heard the marvelous news they were all invited over to the house to meet the rest of the family.
None could quite believe that in the end, they had been so close all along.
But all's well that ends well ... or is it?
The End.
Bruce Cloudfreak: Are you done yet?
Bruce Sugar Breeze: Actually, I just finished!

Bruce Sugarbreeze: When I left for school this morning I didn't realize it would be the last time I saw the elephants. As quickly as they all appeared at our oasis, they left. Papa Hedgehog says that in the time that they went to town for fresh food, they had all left. I guess that's why all the elephants who had been inside the house were outside this morning. They were getting ready to leave.
I'm really going to miss the elephants.
Apparently Papa Hedgehog saw Dan in town again today. Dan was really excited to see him and said that they had a gift for us. He claimed to have "connections" and said they would get us all sorts of new furniture.
And when they got back to the house? New furniture was already there!! What kind of connections does Dan have? It's a little scary honestly.
Nobody Expects the Spanish Inquisition:
NOT THE FLUFFY CUSHIONS, ANYTHING BUT THAT! All existing chairs/beds in the house must be swapped for the highest comfort replacements. You have the week to achieve this - if you've not earned enough during the week you may sell items, forego food, or whatever is necessary (without cheats) to achieve this goal.
The new furniture *is* really comfortable, I just worry about where it came from.
Cathlene says I really shouldn't worry about it, but I can't help it.
But at least I'm not worried about Cathlene. She agreed to go steady with me tonight!! Could she be The One?

Today was Bruce Cloudfreak's birthday.
We all gathered 'round to cheer and applaud...
but Jake totally beat our enthusiasm and gave her this crazy present called an "Electric Dance Sphere." I hope she knows how much Jake loves her ... I mean, an Electric Dance Sphere? I don't even know what it is, but it sounds like the perfect present for her! I can't wait until we figure out how to hook it up and use it!

Notes:
- Bruce Cloudfreak has two bolts with Jake, as does Bruce Sugarbreeze with Cathlene. Big yay!
-Dandelion and Marigold wandering over to the pool lot was *completely* spontaneous and not cheated!! I had visited in hopes that one of them MIGHT show up, but I had no reason to believe that either one would appear. I mean, neither had appeared on any other occassion despite being in the same neighborhood the WHOLE TIME. It was fotuituous, let me tell you! (I'll admit that I cheated Rémy and Quinton there after Marigold arrived, but who's keeping score? ^.^)
-I kept all the old beds in hopes of keeping my ghosts happy. The 'moveobjects on' cheat can be
so useful! ^.^
-What is it with elder knowledge sims and pets? Everyone wanted the dogs (who are old now too!) to learn to shake and come here and all this stuff. It is NOT easy to teach an old dog new tricks, let me tell you =X
